What helps you feel better when you're tense, depressed, or unfocused?!

Question: Let's exclude bad food, hard drugs, and alcohol. I am trying to avoid bad food, am ignorant when it comes to hard drugs and allergic to many legal ones, and get zonked and loggy on even small amounts of alcohol. So, what else do people do in the grip of everyday despair?

Breaking glass. Like glass bottles... Theres something about doing that that makes me feel better. Or just go somewhere and scream at the top of my lungs or even just cry my eyes dry.

After that, have a good meal and a shower and it'd be hard not to feel any better.

i sleep when i'm unfocused, dizzy, down with a headache. i go out with my friends (or without) when i'm frustrated or depressed.

Dear Friend,
As you said, alcohol, drug, or even taking psychology medicine doesn't help you feel relax and calm with free mind.
As a matter of fact, I has been experienced these unpleasant senses for many times. I've had some unwanted bad events in my life, which usually make me feel sad, disappointed, and frustrated. I can assuredly tell you nothing or no activity can help you more than a strong willing mixed with a hopeful mind. I mean hope, which may raised from a religious opinion, definitely help you forget your temporary problems and get rid of unpleasant feeling such as sadness, frustrating, Disappointing, boring or offense. In addition to, some activities such as taking meditation (Yoga), being socialism, getting involved in public activities, doing sports, listening to relaxation music, and so many others may help you feel better.
I strongly argue that some of the best helps in these situations are making friends, visiting best friends, consulting with a specialist, and pray. You may try some of these and see what miracles will happen to your life. Always, try to see life's goodness and be an optimistic person rather than a pessimistic one.
I, individually, like life's challenges and argue, "Change the world and if you can't, change yourself a little bit".
Good luck,

I spent an entire school semester like that and ended up dropping out of college (which consequently stopped those feelings). But... when things got really bad, I used to go to the gym and exercise. Or I'd go for long walks at night armed with good music on my mp3 player. I tried seeing a psychologist once, but "letting my feelings out" only made me feel worse.

One thing that I think helps change any attitude is a change in environment or scenery. I think when I left college, being in a different environment allowed me to objectively reflect on my unhappiness. Eventually the unhappiness left altogether.

I think good advice for anyone feeling depressed or anxious is to seek advice from a psychologist (even if the only thing you accomplish is realizing that counseling is not for you), consider the true source of your unhappiness, and, most importantly, do something about it. I think people begin to think too much and forget to take action.
