Why is it so hard for me to wind down before bed?!

Question: My mind starts to race with everything that I have to get done the next day, problems, work, parenting, bills, etc. Why can't I unwind...it all starts coming to me as I lay there trying to sleep!!! Even my sleeping medication isn't working.

i would buy a massage mat and lay down for 30 minutes thinking of things that make u happy then take sleeping medication and long hot bubble bath to help u unwind by time ur done with ur bath ur pills should take affect and u should be sleepy enough to be able to go to bed and lay don and just think of laying in a field of flowers sounds crazy but works for me

Try stronger medication

because you are so stressed out!!!! try to take your mind off of everything that is weighing you down, try watching tv, listening to the radio/music, or maybe even taking a hot bath to relieve your tension.

good luck!!

lots of things: caffeine, too much sugar, not enough rest or sleep, overworked, too much exercise or not enough, malnourishment.. just to name a few...

if anything, take an hour to wind down, no tv, no computer, no eating, no reading...

sex always helps me sleep

becoz you are too much stressed.taking valium sleeping pill which is an anti-anxiety helps me when i feel like that.try changing pills...

before you go to bed take a hot shower(hot as you can stand,or hotter) then grab a small snack. then when you lie in bed start to fantasize. It can be about ANYTHING.your dream home, a lover, being a super hero....ANYTHING.just let your mind wander until you wake up at 6:30 to an annoying alarm clock.works every night for me.

You start thinking about all those problems and tasks because you have nothing else to think about. Don't think about the negative stuff, only the positive stuff. Have you ever tried working out right before going to sleep? I do, and I feel so relaxed when I go to sleep. You should try that, I'm sure it'll help.

it sounds like what I go threw sometimes, and thats anxiety

Try to exercise more in the day because it relaxes you and is easier for you to go to sleep as it takes a lot of energy .. If this doesn't work then I suggest going to your GP and getting some stronger sleeping pills .. You could be suffering from insomnia. x
