you've been taking anti-depressents for 3 years and you say they are and have caused you to be suicidal , you have sleeping problems but you just stopped taking the pills 3 days ago. if you have had these problems for 3 years what spectacular thing has happened that made you well so you are not depressed anymore because i know you didn't put up with no rest and wanting to kill yourself for 3 whole years.
you are 18 and should not have to worry about telling your doc you have decided not to take the medicine anymore.
after 3 years of all this that you've been through i know you have to have known that you don't suddenly quit taking an anti deppressent and that you should taper off of them slowly.

I understand that you don't want to take your drugs and at 18 you are possibly old enough (depending on your maturity) to make that decision for yourself.

HOWEVER it is very dangerous to just stop drugs outright. You need to cut back over time to allow them to get out of your system safely.

It really is best if you discuss this with your doctor and let him help you to cut back and also it gives you time to show your doctor that you can cope well without them.

Don't rely on medicine or drugs too much because they are not healthy unless it is a genuine case that you have injuries or sickness and need it to cure. What I see is that you are only having emotional problem, try to relax and cope with your anxiety and it should be fine.

Why waste money on these useless medicines when your problem is never solved? Don't let doctors manipulate you. :D

It is really dangerous to stop taking antidepressents cold turkey. When wanting to come off them you should do it very gradually so that you don't have the awful side affects. If you do not feel comfortable telling your doctor find another one that you do feel comfortable with. Good Luck!!

You do need to tell your doctor that you are not taking them at the moment BUT your doctor cannot make you take them again.

It is your decision whether you want to take them or not and no one can force you to take them again. But you must tell your doctor because they have to know in order to find other ways to treat your depression.

I'm not going to suggest you take them again if they aren't making you better. But I would tell the doctor that you would like to discontinue the drug because of side effects and the lack of benefit. He/she may be able to switch you to one that may work for you. Best of luck.
