How do I prevent myself from being too over bearing on my significant other?!

Question: How do I prevent myself from being too over bearing on my significant other? I seem to go crazy sometimes and cannot control my emotional outbursts or don't want to at the time. This happens mostly when I'm drinking. Being apart from him makes me do this I think he doesn't seem to have as much of a problem as I do. It's just like I want his undivided attention or something in my head and don't like to share. How do I talk to him about this or fix this about myself? I am turning into something I've always hated in others it's like a lack of independance.

Well you have half of the problem solved. You know its your issue and you know what causes it. The hard part is to actually take your own advice and stop. If you keep u this behavior you are going to do exactly the opposite of what you want. You will drive him away from you and possibly ruin a good relationship. Learn to be more secure and love yourself a little bit more. Remember those who can't love themselves can't love others.

I'm sorry I don't have advice for you but I do want to tell you I am exactly the same way. I know I am too needy but I'm not sure what to do about it. We broke up for a while and since we got back together I keep telling myself not to start again. It's awful. I know how you feel hopefully someone will offer some advice. And the drinking makes it worse for me as well. I don't drink a lot or often but when I do it's like - watch out. I hope you find the advice you need. Take care.

stop drinking.

Don't drink today. When tomorrow becomes today...don't drink today. Once you've dried out.... seek the professional help you need to deal with other problems. If you find that you cannot stop drinking on your own and decide that you want a good life...go to AA. Others like you will help you to recover. Best of luck to you.
