How can I control panic attacks?!

Question: I usually get them when talking to people or when making a phone call/leaving a message... I freeze up and my mind goes blank.
I told my mom, and I got the "you got it from me" response...

what can I do? -.-

You probably did get it from her, depression and anxiety are closely linked and genetics are a factor. Depending on your age, you may want to consider anti-depression drugs. They are very effective and will completely fix your issue.

Anxiety is typically a "malfunction" in the bodies natural fight or flight reaction. What is happening is that your body is interpreting situations in the wrong way. So when you go to leave a voice mail message, your fight or flight response kicks in and you start to freak out.

You can learn to manage this by how you choose to look at situations and interpret them. You could purchase a book from borders called "Cognitive Behavioral Therapy For Dummies" this will give you some self help ideas on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy which is all about helping you interpret things better.

Hope this helps.

Breath in for the count of four and exhale for the count of six, with practice you will overcome the anxiety attacks. Good Luck.

A medical condition like this should be looked into by a qualified practitioner. I would hate to give advise on a possible serious condition that can immobilize you in that way

If you are indeed having true panic attacks, the chances are pretty good that you did get it from your mother as I got it from my mother and my kids got it from me. It could be part of an inherited anxiety disorder that can be controlled in ways that were not available when I was your age. Ask your mother to take you to your family doctor for a consultation. There is no need to suffer with this if it really is bothering you to the point where it is affecting your life. We all have times when our minds go blank when speaking to people that we might not know all that well. Your doctor should be able to help you sort all of this out. Good luck.
