Does anyone else think/talk to themselves as if they were talking to someone els!

Question: Usually, when I'm thinking to myself, or when I'm trying to list things to do, I think: "You have to do this, we have to do this, you messed up again," or something like "I don't know about you, but I'm hungry. How are you feeling today?" And I'll actually answer back, like: "Not too bad." I hold full conversations with myself, and I laugh at my jokes. "LOL, that's what you do all day?" "Yeah, you didn't know? Where were you, anyway?"

Is this normal? What do you think is the cause of it, and what do you think it all means?

Talking to yourself seems totally normal. Others can view it as a bit eccentric, but eccentricity is often a sign of great intelligence.
If you start to disagree with youreslf and have open arguements, you may want tostay of the caffiene for a bit!

I talk to myself but I dont answer back myself, lol- i think just talking to yourself is normal-- answering yourself is a little werid to me

I talk to myself all the time. It's the only way i can have an intelligent conversation :-) I think a lot of people do it !!!!!!!!

I don't answer myself, but yeah, I do talk to myself a lot, especially at the store when I'm trying to remember everything. That comes from having one or both kids with me all the time, though; I'd talk to t hem and say what we're buying or what I see. Now that I leave them at home with hubby, I'm still in the habit of talking to them, so I'm going down the aisles talking to the grocery cart like there's someone else with me. Boy, do people stare, lol.

My mom used to talk to herself though, and answered herself as well. My mom didn't have a lot of friends, and actually seemed social-phobic at times, so for her I think it was loneliness and not being able to cope with being around people, yet wanting companionship.

I do this all the time, but as a stay-at-home mom I'm by myself for about 7 hours a day. As for answering myself, Yes, I do that too! I think it shows intelligence. :) I also talk to my dogs and answer for them, but that's just the neurotic side of me. My two-way conversations are more common when I've got a real quandry to figure out, each "voice" taking a different side.

I think it's completely normal. The reason for it is simply to organize your thoughts - debating the best route for your errands, for example. Saying it to yourself helps it become more streamlined, so you don't end up on the North side of town and suddenly remember you should have picked up the dry cleaning on the South side of town while you were there!

If this isn't normal, at least you're insane with someone else.

When I talk to myself, I usually stand in front of the mirror and talk. But a lot of the time, I find myself "talking" except not making any noise.. like, my mouth will be forming words, they are just silent words. And if that's the case, I do answer back (silently though).

Yeah I talk to myself!!! I think it's very normal! My friends and alot of people I know do it anyway, but usually I am talking to my dogs!

Yeah like many people do, they talk to themself. But I dont answer back to myself as well.
