I don't know what your feeling like, but for me the days lately aren't important like they used to be. What helps though is finding something to make myself feel productive. Christmas shopping has been a savior! I also started cleaning my room and organizing everything that I had been putting off. Things that I do for myself make me feel better because I feel like I'm moving forward. Meditation is great but you have to be motivated to meditate and you may not be in a motivated state. I suggest a new Hobie or 10 and try to have fun!

you can't STOP it when you want, it takes awhile, buddy.. meditation COULD help.. it's not a miracle worker though, people do it to relax and get inside themselves to do some self-discovery.. you should excercise regularly, it releases endorphins, and just try to surround yourself with things or people you love and make you feel good. Depression is not an easy thing to get through, not even mild depression.. I wish it was possible to get it over with quickly, but that's not possible

Exercise can help. Meditation will help as well. For meditation, I recommend the book, "Peace is Every Step" by Thich Nhat Hanh. It has a simple, straightforward approach to meditation, which he calls focus breathing.

If your depression does not improve or gets worse, you should see you physician.

By the way, one way to deepen the depression is to try to run from it or to beat yourself up for having those feelings. This is hard to do, but when I realize that I am in a depression, I try to wrap the depression around everything that is going on with me. That enables me to say, "I am feeling bad/lonely/sad/etc., because of the depression and not because it's really me". It helps prevent the depression from deepening.

Getting depressed is just part of life. It is just like getting a cough or cold. Some people are more prone to getting more while others are immune to it. Sad to say I am not immune to depression but I got out of it without medication and stayed out of it for more than 10 years.

Here is my cure.

- Take tyrosine (a component of amino). It helps to boost your energy level and therefore motivate you.
- Take vitamin B & C to fuel your brain and combat stress.
- Get plenty of sun.
- Get plenty of exercise to sweat it out and pump oxygen into your brain. If you jog, run as fast as you can until you are out of breath before you stop.
- Analyze your diet. Not enough water or too much acid.
- Meditate by focusing your thoughts on your breathing. Meditate will strengthen your mind.
- Pray a lot. Have faith in the religion of your choice. Believing that someone powerful is willing to help you, strengthen your belief you will recover.
- Use auto suggestion first and last thing in the day : "Everyday in every way, I am getting better and better." Repeat the sentence any time your are free like traveling or waiting. Record and play it to yourself. Say it with positive feeling.
- Don't take anti-depression pills because the pills makes you sleepy but it does not help.

Try yoga with relaxing music in the morning and night. Your body is linked to your mind. Once your body feel great, our mind will improve.
