Cant stop cutting?!

Question: It happened the first time around a year ago. I was 14 and my grandmother had just died. then a couple of days later, a good friend of mine died in a car crash. i lost two important people in less than a week. i tried to talk to my mom but she didnt understand. no one would listen and if they did listen they didnt understand. i'm not crazy and i dont want to see a shrink. I used a kitchen knife that time. I did that for a while but finally stopped when my life starting going uphill.

I've started again. My grades are getting worse and worse and I dont know why. I think Im farely smart but I just CANT pass my math classes. its not that they r hard but i end up failing the tests. i dont need a tutor, i've been in special classes and everything. i dont want ppl to think im dumb, because im not. my mom yelled at me for like three hours about my report card cuz it had a c on it. i kno c's arent that bad but to my mom they are. I locked myself in teh bathroom and used scissors andcant stop

What you're doing is self-harm and it's very common. It sounds like you're using it as a coping mechanism to deal with things.

Is there anyone you can talk to about this? School councellor? If you trust your mum talk to her but I would make sure whoever you talk to you trust them fully, a councellor has confidentiality that's why I suggested them. I have had experience with this and know how hard it can be talking to people about it and the feelings of guilt that go with self-harm.

There's a number of websites you can visit and I think they will be a great help to you. One I would recommend is http://www.lifesigns.org.uk/ - There's plenty of information that should help you and a brilliant message board where you can post messages like you have just posted and get advice on what to do.

Btw Gina, she doesn't have a serious mental illness as cutting is actually a very common way of dealing with problems. Going to the doctor might be a good idea but only if you feel comfortable with that.

Leah you are NOT sick, please go to the website I suggested and you will see that.

You have a serious mental illness and you do need to see a Dr.

I suggest a good therapist for helping you to process your feelings.
I also suggest taking care of yourself physically and emotionally.
Here are some good ideas:
1. Do something that gets your heart rate up a bit like, walking, running, biking, and swimming.
2. Eat Whole, Organic foods like: Broccoli, Cabbage, Organic Brown Rice, Beans, Spinach, Sweet Potato, Apples, and other fruits and vegetables in their Natural State.
3. Avoid eating corn, white bread, white rice, white potatoes, candy, sodas, chips, and anything else that you already know you shouldn
