Hearing weird things?!

Question: I am a former drug addict and alcoholic. I am recovering :)
Anyway... when I started doing drugs I would hear weird things... like voices (sometimes to the point that I would be paralyzed until they went away). I would never hear them when I was on or doing the drugs though. I never did LSD, Shrooms, Meth, or anything of that nature that may contribute to it.

Ummm... I am wondering if this is normal, 'cause it started when I started using and sometimes happens off and on now.

I was a nurse and that is completely normal...after you take drugs a certain amount of times (or enough times where it would equal a certain amount), you are considered legally insane...it doesn't really mean you are insane...anyways...drugs mess with certain areas of the brain the controls certain parts, as I am sure you are aware...Needless to say that is normal for someone in your situation so I wouldn't worry...Everyone should get regular checkups anyways so I suggest you do do that...Have a nice X-mas!

I believe you should consult your doctor or see a therapist so they can understand what's going on, maybe give you some medicine, depending on if it's addicting or not.

if weed kills flowers what do u think it will do to your brain?

y did u start doing drugs in the first place? the jacked up ur brain.

You sure you're not having a nervous breakdown? These symptoms sound very familiar is why I thought I'd mention that. Good Luck and Merry Christmas :)

freankin the drugs killed ur brain!!

You should see a phycologist, maybe he can find the problem. OR your house if friggin haunted. So who you gonna call....... GHOSTBUSTERS!!!!!!

I believe you were hearing people on another plane, probably advising you to stop your ways before your brain cells were entirely eaten away, then you would hear voices from the dad. Stay away from those drugs, they cause certain death, either of the body, mind or soul. You could check into rehab. Get it together. You have something to give, find it.

Because of the damage you've done to your brain as a result of the drugs, your brain is playing tricks on you, but the voices aren't real. Speak to a psychiatrist as soon as you possibly can, but just comfort yourself in the meantime by constantly telling yourself the voices aren't real and they can't hurt you. If you really can't wait, go to an emergency room. They'll be able to help you there. Illegal drugs aren't all they're "cracked" up to be, are they? Also, continued alcohol poisoning can damage parts of the brain as well. Good luck.

well im glad to see you recovering, and to the answer to your ? yes it is normal cause ive been there , what is happening is your brain trying to talk you into the life its used to, cause it knows you run the body and its not getting something that it had before, theyre not real voices so watch it cause its your mind, and if you let it win, you wont stay clean.. good luck i love to see people come back from drugs, to many people say theres no hope for drug addicts and i can say there wrong, and now you can tooooo

My husband used to use when he was younger and he would hear weird things. Now, he's clean and sober and he still will occasionally hear things. It's something that you are going to have to deal with. It will lessen over time and just be a mild annoyance.

I don't know much about drug use but I do know the effects of drugs can be damaging to the brain, the nervous system, and this damage can be irreversable. Whatever these sounds are are might be all in your mind...the mind is a powerful thing.
Did you ever ask a doctor this question?
Take care of yourself and stay clean.
Merry Christmas

What you are referring to are mind-altering drugs. It is not at uncommon for a drug user to think that he.she hears voices or other sounds. Anything that one allows to control the mind might think that they hear voices or other sounds. Many person into religion claim that god talks to them or they talk with Jesus because they have allowed religion dogma to take control of their mind. Since you have discontinued using drugs you say that you still at times periodically think that you hear voices or other sounds. The thought that you continue to hear sound or voices even now is just a continuing routine of your mind that has been affected by use of those drugs. I think that in time your mind will become clear if you do not use drugs again and you will eventually stop hearing those sounds or voices.

yes, its normal for your brain to short circuit a bit when its under the influence of drugs. And sadly, it may take years to undo the damage you've already done, Go talk to doctor about the problem

I've done my fair share of drugs with many others and have not heard of this. I don't know if it's normal or not, but you should DEFINITELY see somebody about this. Here's a link from the WebMd site.

I looked a little bit for some sort of free consultation and couldn't find anything. Don't let this go just in case it isn't normal...

Before I was medicated for bipolar, I self medicated with anything I could find; drugs being one of those things. When I stopped doing them at the ripe age of 17, I had the same thing happen to me. My doctors later diagnosed it as a Narcotic Induced Psychotic Episode. They say it's rare for someone as young as I was, but drugs are bad, especially with a chemical imbalance.

maybe God trying to talk to you so why don't u listen and stay off drug cause all it do is mess u up and pull u ways from God and go closer to Satan
