What exactly is stress?!

Question: okay, so i sort of understand what it is, but then again i don't know what exactly what it is and how you know if you're stressed.
they say chocolate can reduce stress because it releases horomones or something, but how exactly does this work.
Please explain what stress is in an understandable way.

What Is Stress?
Stress is the emotional and physical strain caused by our response to pressure from the outside world. Common stress reactions include tension, irritability, inability to concentrate, and a variety of physical symptoms that include headache and a fast heartbeat.

It's almost impossible to live without some stress. And most of us wouldn't want to, because it gives life some spice and excitement. But if stress gets out of control, it may harm your health, your relationships, and your enjoyment of life.

Examples of "overload" situations are common in today's world:

You and your spouse both work full time while you are raising your family. At the same time, your parents are retired, in ill health, and are dependent on your help with shopping and running errands.

You are a single person living alone, and your salary isn't rising as fast as the rate of inflation. It's getting harder each month to pay the bills.

You are a divorced parent and share the custody of your children with your former spouse. But the friction between the two of you on matters concerning the children is becoming more bitter and more frequent.

The expectations and competition at your workplace is becoming fierce. You find yourself coming in early, staying late, and taking on more work than you can handle.

Nice To Know:

Many addictions are linked to a stressful lifestyle, such as overeating, smoking, drinking, and drug abuse. These are used as an escape or a temporary way of "switching off" - but they do not address the underlying problem.==========

stress is the feeling of never being able to accomplish everything you need to accomplish. always rushed never enough time too many problems to be able to think about solutions.the body produces natural hormones that will decrease stress. some of these are found in chocolate. it would be better to exercise as this will also cause the release of stress reducing hormones but will be much healthier for you

stress is the minds inability to process absolute cr@q!

Stress is an emotionally disruptive or upsetting condition of mind which occurs in response to adverse external influences. Stress raises the level of adrenaline (a hormone & a neurotransmitter) and corticosterone (a 21 carbon steroid hormone) in the body, which leads to increase in the heart rate, respiration, and blood pressure and puts more physical stress on bodily organs. When some thing pleasant or unpleasant happens around you, which puts you in a state of strain or pressure, it is called stress.

Stress is where you are frustrated with situations in your life such as your job or your school or college work or even relationship problems. If the stress gets worse- ie you become more and more frustrated with things, it can lead to depression which is when most of your thoughts seem to be negative and you feel like life is **** and you dwell on your problems everyday. Most of us go through stress....we just have to try and not let it get to us too much, which is an easier thing to say than do. And yeah, chocolate can make you feel happier, by releasing endorphins (sp?) (the body's natural 'happy' hormones) but other things can too, such as listening to your fave music or doing your fave hobby. Hope I've explained everything for you.

Stress is life. You can have stress from good things, or bad things. It can be taking an exam; doing something that you have never done before; it can be a wedding, a funeral, having to give a speech in front of your class, doing something physical like running a marathon or shoveling snow. Many many people get stressed driving in traffic.

Stress can show up as sweat, clamy hands, a knot in your stomach, flushed cheeks, clenched teeth, elevated heart rate or blood pressure. Some people talk fast when stressed. Some clam up. Some yell and get nasty.

I don't know about the chocolate thing. I do know that taking deep breaths does help. Do it like you are blowing bubbles, or buy a jar of bubble juice and blow real bubbles.

Remember that every living person gets stressed at some time or other.

When we focus on a duty or task and we can feel we cant win then if you are very intelligent you can become very upset. The worst is to find an expectation is false and then erase the truth factor. Erasing excretes lots of waste products in the brain fluid These chemicals can really mess up the lower medulla or auto brain.
