Question: How many hours do you think you have to be on the computer to be classed as an addict?

Answers: How many hours do you think you have to be on the computer to be classed as an addict?

8 - 10 hours is bad
10 or more is an addiction

every waking moment

If you can't live without logging on every single day then you are an addict - regardless of time spent on there xxxxx

Well, how much time does it interfere in said persons life. Are real life responsibilities put off for the purpose of spending time on the computer? Does said person promise to only spend an hour web surfing and realize that three hours have passed? Does the person turn down invitations from friends so they may spend more time on the computer? Is school or work suffering from too much computer time? These are all signs of computer addiction.

mine goes on even before ive put the kettle on at 6am each morning-guess im an addict

If it is not part of your employment, 8 or more hrs.

One minute.

I spend more on the computer now that I'm retired but to classify it under 'Mental Health' is a worry to me!

I'd say enough of a portion of your day for it to interrupt your daily activities like eating, sleeping, and working. For proof of it, go onto youtube and search up 'world of warcraft addict'
then you'll see. Also, to see a funny addiction, type in the box on youtube 'mom tells kid no more wow' thats an instant laugh.
**Wow=world of warcraft**

i'd say if you bring your laptop with you to pee / shower, you're an addict... i'm on the computer all day, only coz i'm a programmer, but i'm not an addict... i think you're an addict only if you need to constantly check on facebook or myspace or dumb stuff like that to keep your life going

Well that depends on what you do on your computer. If you a student who needs to work on a computer then I'd say that's encouraged. However if you do other stuff such as surfing the web, playing games, chatting on MSN or even some random clicking on your desktop for more than 1 hour a day, I'd say it's becoming an undesirable habit.

If you feel you've wasted a lot of time on computer games, you should go to rehab - a place without computer and try to change that bad habit to something good and healthy.

8 or more is addiction.

An addict don't realise what time it is as time passes by when they are on the computer (like me)..... when you are an adict you just know x

I get Brain spasms because i'm an net addict...... run while you have the chance lol

well it depends what you are doing. if you are like researching for school then it can be however long until you finish. But if You can't survive one day w/o going on the computer you are an addict. also if it takes over your life then your also an addict. Like if someone tells to get off you need to listen. if you give them attitude you are mean and an addict. here is what you can do. the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. then See if you can last one day without going on the computer. then go 2, then 5 , then a week. take it one step at a time.

We are tired of this comment. We all want to be heard and in grade school today they get the wee kids to write better if they have to blog. Then they feel important as someone else reads it and can evaluate each other. You are just a kid ... we need to blog. We need the prefect listener. Oh sure you read web-logs too and look at the girl next door. Its all part of the human change coming down the pike. Soon we will be calm articulating humans who mix well with other computer trained humans . Years ago the old ladies made sure everyone was mixing. Today it is all about social controls.

Well they do say if you cant go a day without even one glass of alcohol that makes you an addict- i suppose that could apply to just about anything. I live with a computer addict- he has to put it on when he gets up and if we are away for a day or two he's going crazy by the time we get back and he rushes straight to the pc room to make sure its still there!

u can expect a computer programmer to spend 12 hours on computer, but still he can manage to walk, jog, swim and go to gym. so all depends on how u can maintain the true balance of life. it is only the mismanagement which leads to addiction, not time.
