Is there a "medical" term for someone who *needs* to have someone near!

Question: This is a bit of a weird question, but I personally really, REALLY hate being alone and I need to have someone else in the house with me all the time.
And I get lonely really easily- like if a friend signs off for the day, I automatically feel a little lonely. Then I get oddly excited if they sign back on.
Is there a word for that?

And no, I'm not an only child.

I'm not sure what the name of it is, but there would be one.

You could see a psychologist, who can diagnose you, although often when people can put a name to what they are feeling they feel it is more of an excuse to embrace it, rather than trying to deal with it and learn to change their behaviour patterns.

You could also see a counsellor who can help you understand why you are that way, and how you can oversome it.

Personally I recommend counsellors over psychologists because psychologists tend to "label" people rather than healing them.

Good luck. Feel free to email me.

seperation anxiety

Co-dependency.

Why does everyone have to give every personality trait a label these days??? When I was yonger it was called being clingy and immature. And we were encouraged to grow up and become independant but these days with all the new popularity to mental health there is bound to be some name / excuse for it.

I'll be there!

Chelz, if you're wondering about a medical diagnosis, what you are describing can be symptomatic of a number of different conditions. It is one thing to just call it "clingy" and "immature" and just call it a day. That will change nothing. If these feelings are really bothering you, then you do need to talk to a professional about this. There is plenty of available mental health help available. Professionals also are aware that spiritual guidance plays an important role in good mental health. I'm not talking about a specific "religion," but certainly we are physical, mental, emotional and spiritual beings. All four do affect each other.

There really is no way to find out what is really going on with you by getting bits and pieces of answers here. It's important to find professional help to take care of all of you.

Best to you.

That makes you a little bit depressed but it also makes you very desirable if we can get to know you . You meet new people as needed for activities. Well that's okay let guys keep meeting you... some will really like your style and personality. A bipolar lover is the best there is. I was raised as an outsider in my large family too. Hold on life will get better.
