Do you think I have ADHD?!

Question: I am always forgeting names and dates. I often lose my possessions. I get very overwhelmed when I have to make decisons. I often have mood swings. I am uncoordinated and I feel like I am not aware of my surroundings-I could be holding an item and looking for it at the same time or it's right in front of me. I'm an incredibly bad driver. The other day I hit a parked car. My room is a mess. There is more junk on the floor than carpeting. I can't read a book or magazine for more than 10 minutes at a time, unless I underline every line in a repeating motion. I'm in college and my grades are average, but I feel like they could be much better. I shake my legs constantly. I am often at a loss for words. I have bad short term memory-I often forget what I did a few minutes ago. I daydream a lot and sometimes the daydreams are very sexual. I am very impatient, I hate waitin in line. I really think I might have ADHD...Does any who has ADHD or knows about it think I have ADHD?

Hello,
Three of us here have it, it is hereditary.
It sounds like you may have it.
Not something I wish on anyone. What would be the diagnoses mean to you?
I got diagnosed after I was in yet another serious accident. I did not want it.
The medications for this are a joke!! They are worse then the condition itself. Nicotine and caffeine do help the symptoms (the doctors rarely say anything to people who have been diagnosed with this about these two drugs). With less side effects then the pharmaceutical medications. Speed is never a opinion for me personally for I have other medical conditions. Speed is typically used to control the symptoms of ADHD. Of course the doctors will not tell you what the drug is, and people have to do the research on the drugs used.
It sounds as if you are a young person.
Go to the doctors, do not say you think you have ADHD. They may think you are only after the drugs!! The street price on these drugs have been proven to be a good way to make money. Several teachers, even one head school official of a school in Washington state has/have been put in jail for steeling and selling kids drugs. I you do have it and get on the drugs, keep your drugs locked up. People will steal them! Even people you think are your friends!
When you go into the normal doctor tell him/her you symptoms. He/she then may or may not send you to a professional who only diagnoses mental illness.
ADD/ADHD is a sub symptom of such things as autism. They may want to check you out for other mental illness's.
Good luck and I sure do wish you well!

No you dont have ADHD, you are just behaving like every other person do. I would suggest you to go for meditation classes for a month or so and see the change, i have experienced it and it works fine and now i am a responsible person and i stand out..

Sounds like you have aniexty issues to me but not ADHD. Might talk to your doctor there are some really effective meds out there that are not habit forming that you can only take when you need them. I have these same problems and I take meds for aniexty.

Your symptoms could be ADHD. They could also be symptoms of some other mental illness, and don't take that like a death sentence. Either would be treatable. The fact that you're so good at having observed your behavior is excellent and will help you a lot. Really, you should see a psychologist and ask for a psychological evaluation. My daughter had ADHD and had other learning and psychological issues. A good test will help tremendously. One thing about ADHD is it doesn't appear suddenly and last temporarily. Think about when you were a kid, did you fidget a lot or (not and) did you interrupt people and had trouble waiting to speak up, did you hate sitting down either for homework or dinner, did you act impulsively, like crossing the street without looking, or jump in a pool when you could hardly swim, did you have bad temper tantrums, sleep little? One good place to look for answers is the National Institute of Health, Mental Health site, NIMH, and google ADHD. My daughter, until now, in her last year of high school, needs medication to study. She was also allowed, thanks to the testing extra time on all her exams.

Meditate.

sure, get pills.
