How do I deal with Chronic Stress?!

Question: I realize that I have chronic stress. I broke out in shingles a few months ago and then I just finally kind of snapped-broke some laws, lost all motivation for school and work all while feeling like if I got any more stress that I just might finally completely loose it!! Any suggestions on what to do?

learn relaxation/coping skills that are healthy.

listening to calming music, mediate, medicate, prayer, massage therapy, talk therapy. exercise more, cut down or cut out off forms of caffiene (do this slowly because caffiene headaches-from just cutting cold turkey will give you a bad headache), journal, do things you find relaxing. if you like to paint.... paint to relax, even if the painting has no subject, or you think later looks crappy, just be in the moment of time and just think about painting, or if you sing or play a musicial instrument do that...

There are breathing techniques to help calm you down.... or just a very simple on that I do sometimes, like to calm myself down from the day.... is. *breath in* and say something like peace, relax, or calm, or something simple and then hold it a few seconds, and then *exhale* saying something like stress...

so when you are breathing in, you are breathing in a calm relaxing word, and exhaling a negative word that you are feelings and you are ridding your body of that emotion or feeling..... your can try it with different words.,

it sounds pretty severe. no one should have to suffer with that kind of stress. u can go to the doc and explain the stress level is too high for you to be able to function effectively. they will offer something that can help. othewise, pray a lot and exercise everyday. it releases the adrenalin and produces feel good hormones. you may also try journaling - writing in a journal that only you will read. good luck.

First of all, try to simplify your life. Determine what's most important to you, and run with it. Learn to say no to others!

Even if you are completely successful with the above, you are still going to have stress. Everyone does. Find time to sit quietly and think about the prettiest place you've ever seen. Keep that picture in your mind while breathing slowly and deeply. With every exhaust of breath, feel a little bit more stress leaving your body.

Praying, meditation and yoga are quite helpful too.

Just some basic ideas for a problem that plagues the entire industrialized world. Hope they help.
