Why am I so sensitive?!

Question: I'm extremely sensitive to sounds, smells, violence, injustice, and criticism. Someone can be tapping a pencil in the room next to me, and I'll be on the brink of insanity. I have to leave situations sometimes because I'm so irritated by tiny annoyances. Why am I like this, and how can I change it?

I found this web page that linked noise sensitivity with magnesium deficiency interesting. Also being sensitive to sounds and light can be an underlying sinus problem.

its just how people are! There charectiscs there attitude! its a ll bout!

???

You may have OCD or depression..

You learned less tolerance. You need to unlearn this.

IT's just the way you are, its not a problem. But if you thin it's starting to take over your life, then relax a little take some deep breaths and enjoy life more

Omg! I totally know how you feel about the "your" and "you're"
And like in class I really like I need to correct them, but then I feel rude...

Go see a therapyst. He/she might be able to help you figure out why you are like that.

thats very sensitive...but sometimes psychology plays a role on that one...& since it gotten so sensitive enough, why not consult an expert about it so that u can be sure & he/she could provide an accurate answer about it...

I think, it is because that's who you are. Every individual is unique in every detail. If you really want to change, think of a thing/situation wherein you find yourself needed or not irritated/sensitive of. And move it out. Hope, I can help you...

Oh, I know about the pencil tapping!

There was an incident when I was taking a math exam in college. The classroom door was open and I could hear doors way down the hall squeaking when they opened and closed. I was on the verge of losing my mind until I asked the teacher to shut the classroom door. I could still hear the doors down the hall, but it was muffled.

I have issues with sounds. I returned 2 air purifiers because of the ringing noise I heard from them. It's as if I can't focus on anything else but the noise and I will go nuts! I have a list of other times where I've been too sensitive to stuff. I admire those that can tune stuff out. Tuning stuff out takes practice though!! I wanted you to know you're not alone and it's awesome that someone out there knows where I'm coming from. Good luck to you! :)

I feel very sensitive to some of the things you mentioned too - including bright light. I don't think you are weird or anything. I tend to do my best to ignore my sensitivities, but sometimes it's hard (like when I'm driving and the lights are blinding).

Some people have greater sensitivity and I think the world needs a mix of everybody. But, I hope you can find coping mechanisms too. I wish people could share what works, cuz I'd like to know too.
