How do I get my ambition and drive back?!

Question: This has been driving me crazy for just over a year now. I used to have all kinds of ambition, and I guess I still do. It's like I want to do what I need to do, I know what I need to do, I just can't force myself to do it.

Lately my sleep cycle has been getting odder and odder. It's now 4:45am, and I've been sleeping less and less. I can't force myself to get out of bed when the alarm goes off and I'll sleep until afternoon. I've stopped working out even though I really enjoyed it I just can't bring myself to go do it anymore. My eating habbits are sparatic at best now. And I really try hard to keep a positive outlook on life, but lately there's an underlying feeling of negativity and dispair that's affecting everything in my life. It's not that I don't believe I will be able to achieve things, it just seems to be so far into the future, even though it shouldn't and I don't want it to be.

I've been through a lot lately, but enough is enough. Any suggestions?

You sound like you're doing a great job of riding the wave, BrandonM. What wave? The one that is moving you away from the depression you're in because you've been through a lot lately. In Emotions Anonymous (www.emotionsanonymous.org) there is a slogan: Act "As If". This means that in any given situation one should act as if everything is fine, will work out, is enjoyable, you get the picture. I found that taking an evening walk for 30 minutes helped me to sleep at night. Of course, sleeping until late afternoon sometimes made that hard for me to do. Look into an Emotions Anonymous meeting (website will provide locations)...go...share your darkest feelings and fears (another slogan: Fears Are Not Facts) and come away feeling like you're not alone or at least superior to someone for a while! (Hey, it happens at first: you sit there and think, "God, I thought I was a loser".) You'll learn the skills to deal with this depression, just like you've learned the skills required by other areas of your life. Good luck to you.

Try this always. Close your eyes and take a deep breath and repeat it for 10 times. this helps you to come to the present world. Then open your eyes and start thinking of future like what do you want to become and what are the things you need to achieve and start working on it and also check my blog to get more tips http://trainyourmind.blogspot.com

"Doing" is the key....you have to force yourself to do things...even simple things...like going for a walk every day. This will help you sleep which in turn will help your brain to turn off at night. Creativity is also a good thing...painting, drawing whatever you like....when you are down it is easy to slip into a pattern of inactivity...dont allow it because it feed the negativity.

You seem to think too much. Just try to think positive. Because, as I look into your situation, you're thinking negative things a lot. If you think of things in a positive way, to tell you what, good things will come on your way!
