Sleeping problems?!

Question: I am not sure if this is a really big deal but, after returning from Iraq about a year or so ago it got worse. Nothing serious just like I talk a lot and do things in my sleep. For one instance my wife said I got out of the bed and went to the end of it and just started pulling the covers off of the bed. She yelled at me and I gave her a "evil" look and just went back to sleep. I have no knowledge of ever doing this, that was probably the biggest thing I did in my sleep. Other than that she woke up once to me just starring at her like an inch away from her face, and my eyes were open but I don't remember doing that.

So I don't know if this is an issue and can be fixed any expierence with this?

You should see a counsellor. Your local hospital or GP should be able to put you in touch with someone who specialises in post traumatic stress - if not, the Army should be a ble to (I'm assuming you were in the Army)

Years back I had the same sort of problem, I was having nightmares and kicking and screaming in my sleep. It sounds like post traumatic stress ... my cousin was in the war in Iraq and had simular problems to you as well. I can't imagine how horrible it was over there.

You will benefit greatly from counselling - it will take time, but things will get better.

If in 12 months time you haven't made any progress, you could try hypnosis, but honestly counselling is the way to go.

Feel free to email me, I'm more than happy to help.

It sounds like post traumatic stress ....I have a friend that did 3 stints over there. He has a few problems like this too. Just keep talking about it..( for now with your wife) and if it gets worse or doesn't stop..go talk to your local VSO about getting some help.BTW thank you for all you have done for us by serving in Iraq. I don't think a lot of the civilian public understands the sacrifice you all have made...
