Do I have something like multiple personalities or is this normal?!!??! If u kno!

Question: Ok, well most of the time I'm a quiet, shy and very nice guy, but then I get like these moments, in which i feel like the very oppossite. It's really weird. and LOL, for those that say I do drugs I don't, lol, I'm not on anything. But yeah, sometimes I feel like normal, and then other times I feel like someone else is thinking for me, I mean I don't lose track of time or anything, but my "brain/soul" or whatever you want to call it, starts having like cruel thoughts like revenge, and then i get very materialistic, cold/detached and selfish, then my "normal" side/conscience starts kicking in, but the other side, is like "talking" to it and telling it why it's doing what it's doing...lol, (gosh that sounds crazier written down) I know this is really confusing, so if you think you can help me to know if I have anything, could you leave your e-mail, and I'll tell you more in detail. Thanks in advance

It is not multiple personality disorder / dissociative identity disorder, that I'm sure of.

It COULD be bipolar disorder (Jay's definitive diagnosis of that based on this little information rubbed me the wrong way). How long have you been feeling this way? Do you notice these symptoms usually come on during a time of incredible elation, almost like a high, where you feel invincible, engage in risky behavior and/or are impulsive, talking a mile a minute, etc.? It is not uncommon for the mania of bipolar disorder to occur with the dissociative/psychotic type features that you've described. The symptoms you've described can also occurr alongside depression, though less common. However, the general problem here would only be bipolar disorder if you're experiencing the mood "fluctuations" (must last a long time; people are called "rapid cyclers" if they have more than 4 depressed or manic episodes in an entire year) as well.

Not so sure of the schizophrenia "diagnosis." Are you hallucinating? Any delusions? You have to very honestly consider how intact your reality testing is. When you say you hear one side "talking" to the other side, and I get the sense you understand this already because you put "talking" in quotes, an auditory hallucination means that you physically hear the talking. If you recognize that it is occurring in your own head by your own conscious yet uncontrolled efforts, I wouldn't be so quick to call it a hallucination.
Also, you said you get these "moments," and last I checked (I'm only a psych student, though) schizophrenia does not come and go, especially if it's untreated.

It -definitely- sounds like this is a problem, though. Especially if it's affecting your daily functioning or causing you a lot of distress, you should seek professional help. The most you can really get out of Yahoo! answers is people giving you their best guesses, personal experience, and opinions.

All the best to you, and take care.

Yeah, you are bipolar and schizophrenic.

You need meds.
I only say that because I am on meds for my diseases, like social anxiety, panic, bipolar, etc.

It's not multiple personalities.
And I don't know who came up with that term.
It doesn't exist.

You are bipolar and you are probably going to be easily hurt, easily bored, and it's because of a chemical imbalance in our brains.

You kind of lost me there, sorry. You can feel free to e-mail me though; maybe explain a bit better.

No worries, bro, maybe its stress :)
