I think my roomate stole some of my medication...how do I confront him?!

Question: I'm on Klonapin for my VERY bad anxiety attacks and I've been noticing the last couple of times I got my perscription filled, pills end up missing before they are suppose to. I thought the pharmacy was ripping me off, so I count them whever I get a refill. They are all there!! But I seem to run out of them before it's time for another refill, and it's usually quite a few that are missing, not like 1 or 2.
My roomate is in recovery and claims to have been clean for almost 5 years now. Something is telling me that he's taking them, but I don't want to ask and start a war. What do I do?
I've started to hide my medication just in case, but I don't feel I should haveee to do that in my own home.

If he's an addict, he'll never admit to taking them. My brother is an addict and he stole our brother-in-laws xanax (sp). When he stayed over here to watch my kids, he broke into my husbands house to get valiums (it was no small feat either). He denied stealing from our bro-in-law even when they had hard, undeniable proof.
My advice is to buy a lock-box or a floor safe (you can get them relatively cheap in price) and keep all your meds in it until you can find another roomie.

You are right that you shouldn't have to...but it is necessary. Addicts are liars, there are no two ways around it. It is the addiction that makes them lie. And it might be because this is a different drug than your roomie was using before that they are not seeing it as a problem yet. If you are not up for a confrontation (which is understandable), then I would just hide them...maybe even at work where you know they are safe. Or get an actual safe for the meds in the house, with a combo. It does sound like this is what is happening. And unfortunately, it happens a lot.

you could always ask. then, file a police report, contact your insurance company for a refill, and find a home without a roomie.

Keep them on you or in your purse, Its good to have them on you anyways, in case you get a panic attack... If you do not want to keep them on you I suggest locking them up cause you will be held responsible if god forbid anything happens to him

Just hide it well...he won't admit to it...

just say, "hey, have you seen my pills?" or "I can't believe I keep losing my pills.".

The answer is simple. You dont' create any conflict or bad blood between you two by saying anything. You just make damn sure you hide those pills from him so he can not even be tempted to take any.

Best bet is to keep peace since living with some one pissed at you could turn out to be hell. I would just pick up a little lock box and keep your meds in that and start keeping them some where a little safer. This way you keep a freind and your meds.

If he is stealing them, there is no way to confront him without it turning into a horrific nightmare of a conflict.

Keep 'em hidden and/or locked up.

It's unfortunate that you have to do that, but the only available alternatives are worse. Confrontation will yield nothing.

Also... Keep an eye on alternative living arrangements for the future.

Best of luck to you.

I think you should confront him, if it was something stupid like a Granola bar then I wouldn't make such a fuss but this is for your health. I think you should just calmly ask him to prevent any huge rows over it. x

wheres he at i'll kick his ***!!!!
