As someone (medical) told me recently - most of these conditions are actually related such as bi-polar, schizophrenia, ADD, Aspergers, depression and the rest and quite often there's a lot of crossover since no two people have the same brain makeup.

Depression is the bit where you feel worthless, can't see any point in anything and possibly have thoughts of suicide.

Anxiety is the part where you're feeling really nervous and often at least in my case preceeds the depression.

ADD I suppose it a mixture of all of them since it's hard to concentrate when you're either feeling really on edge or really down.

What is your diagnosis?

ADD is negligible.

Depression and Anxiety pretty much go hand in hand.

A lot of depression meds are used to treat generalized anxiety disorder as well. Anxiety specific meds (ativan, xanax) are more like sedatives.

Do some first-hand reading on these disorders and you'll probably understand a lot better. Kay Jaimeson (SP?) wrote a book called "An Unquiet Mind" about Bipolar personality disorder-- a fluxuation between depression, anxiety, and mania. It is an excellent book. Also "Prozac Nation", although I forget who wrote it.

You aren't alone.

I'm in total agreement with Mad-Theo's answer.
And, yes, do some research on your own.
And, don't give up if one medication doesn't work for you. Try another one. You will find relief if you try.
I wish you well.
