The person next door has ECT many years ago for depression back in the days when it was more common and she said it can affect your short term memory, but won't cause the kinds of problems you're describing.
Those memories and connections are laid down a long time ago and very strongly, so you'd only lose them if you had a major brain injury which isn't what ECT does. If you're worried, ask the psychiatrist as they should explain all the effects to you before they ask you to sign your concent.
ECT Side-effects include confusion and memory loss for events around the time period of treatment. This means that your long term memory should not be affected.
