Question: What's Post -Tramuatic Stress?

Answers: What's Post -Tramuatic Stress?

Its a form of stress that people experience after a traumatic event. Eg. Someone might have stress following a bad car accident.

Post = Past
Traumatic = Shock / bad event in life

Stress due to a past shock (or bad event)

It's what happens to you after you've
been through a horrible experience.

usually a response to a tragic event in your life. Could be from a death, divorce, or abuse. PTS is the symptoms that follow the event you experienced. Symptoms could include anxiety, depression, insomnia and several other symptoms. Some may experience few of these symptoms while others experience a large portion of them. Usually counseling helps and/or a combination of counseling and meds. Hope this helps.

After witnessing or even hearing about an incident you keep relieving the experience. A person can also have nitemares even hallucinations either visual or auditory. It has many of the symptoms of anxiety (heart palpitations, shortness of breath, etc) on top of the above.

When you have experienced a significan trauma that effects you afterwards through flashbacks of the incident, avoidance of certain places that remind you of the event or avoidance of people or smells that remind you of the event. Treatable through thearpy and a couple medications can help stop or ease up the flash backs.

A lot of war veterans have this - it's experiencing a horrible traumatic experience and then come home and suffer from the memories.
