Why are my parents personalities so different than my own?!
Question: If personality or certain traits are genetic why are my parents so outgoing and animated and im reserved? They say it genetic. if thats the case why am i so different?

Everybody has their own personality.
Of course you will have some similarities with your parents but think about the age gap.Maybe when they were your age they were different too.And when you get to their age you won't be 100% who you are today.
Your personality is also influenced by the way you were brought up, your friends and a lot of things.
Don't worry about it your are an indivitial with your own unic personality.Be proud!
Personality is not genetic. Who you are is more a decision than an inherent trait. Usually children tend to distance themselves from their parents' predilections consciously or subconsciously. Children want to make their own mark, walk their own footsteps and not be known as their parent's children all their life, especially those parents with dominant characters. Both my parents are outgoing, extrovert personalities while I'm a recluse. They are technophobes while they consider me a techie.
i dont' think personality is genetic. I wasnt out going before. Now I am, that's because it's important to make friends. Friends can help each other in carrier. If they know a good job, they will rather put me on the top list of hiring me, than hire a stranger. even I don't like socializing, but I see the importance of making friends.
There are books about how to be social, and make friends like u. and how we play the game in sociality.
Who you are is not entirely determined by your genes, who you are is not determined by causes that occured before you're conception. You are free at every moment to change and make decisions and think in new ways and although we are heavily influenced by the past, every moment you have the choice to react in a new way to that stimulus that has brought out in you the same response all your life. Every moment is like a decion to choose this road or that and like a figer print or a zebra's markings, everyone's history of choices is unique. But I'm pretty much like my dad, actually, he thinks the same thing...
