Who would I go to to get Adderall prescribed? A general doctor?!

Question: My friend said it would really help my focus and getting tasks done which has become difficult for me in the past year or more. I'm a mother of 2 and I can't complete tasks and start new ones before the other ones are done and I'm getting overwhelmed with organizational things. She recommends Adderall. Where would I go to get it prescribed? Any thoughts?

Call your family doctor for an appointment. Your doctor will then ask you some questions and even possibly set you up another appointment with someone who deals with ADHD and ADD. You will take several different tests that can take up to 3hrs at least thats what they tell you to plan for. Once you have taken the tests a team of specialists will go over the results to determine if you really have a problem and on which type of medication would be best for you. My son is on adderal XR so I've been through this process with him. If you truly do have a problem there are many different medications out there that can help you and not just adderal. It could be that you are just to stressed out to really focus and therefore have a hard time dealing with everything. Make and appointment and see your doctor and tell him/her everything that your feeling and doing so they can help you. Good Luck to you.....

Before you jump on the Adderall bandwagon you should see a psychologist for an evaluation. There is no use in messing with your brain chemistry over something that is not ADHD. There could be a number of reasons why you are not as focused as you might want to be. Have a professional evaluation done. You will be glad you did. What you are describing could just be a part of your personality.

Your PC ( Primary Care doctor)can help you out by doing tests. Even though Adderall works well for one person it does not mean it will for you. If you have ADD or ADHD there are many treatment options available.

any doctor. ive gotten it from family doctors to psychologists, and once some doctor i dont know

A psychiatrist or primary care doctor would be able to prescribe an ADHD drug, but only a psychiatrist could properly analyze symptomology and do a full evaluation to determine IF ADHD is truly the issue.

you need a psychologist not psychiatrist to give you the test. take the test results to your md.
