What do u think she sees in me?!

Question: Occasionally when I'm really quiet, my coworker will ask me questions. I have a very soft-spoken voice and even in a small group if I say something, sometimes I'm overpowered by others. This girl will somehow hear me and will ask me to repeat what I said so she can listen. I was having guy problems so she gave advice and responded to a few texts I sent. Because I'm naturally shy, it was hard for me to open up but I did little by little. Some days I felt more accomplished than others and will even try to initiate conversations. So I started to reach out and interact more. Right before the holidays, I kind of reverted back to my quiet and shy mode. She asked me about my holiday plans while we were sitting together.and I told her. Before we left, she said "have a nice holiday honey."

We don't hang out outside of work so I was wondering if u think she's interested in being friends or if she's just being polite? Do you think she sees me as a potential friend? Worried about being hurt...

Sounds like she's trying to get you to be less shy. You can be friends and still have a guard up too.

Being polite.

yeah shes trying to help.. it sounds like she might want to be your friend but sounds like shes trying to help you.

Sounds like a nice person. She probably sees your situation and understands it better than other co-workers. Could she be interested in friendship outside of work? Maybe. Talk to her like a friend, just let things go where they will from there. Maybe you two could go out for drinks somewhere. Talk to her about a "girls night out" kind of thing and see if she has any ideas? Good luck. It's tough being shy. Take it easy and have a happy holiday season.

She probably likes you. Don't worry so much, she seems really nice, too.

seems to me you're already friends. She already treats you as a friend. What she sees in you? A normal human being. One that has doubts and fears and good qualities, just like the rest of the world.

What do u mean by "worried about getting hurt"...hey it's just a friend at work, not the answer to your prayers, not your surrogate mother! Don't expect EVERYTHING from a friend! Just enjoy the friendship...go with the flow..smile..relax..maybe share a bit about how you're doing, just normal stuff between friends.
What are you looking for in friendship?

If you'd like some people to hang out with after work...maybe you could talk to this friend and ask her opinion on organizing a Happy Hour with your coleagues. Just say something like "hey, so-and-so, you know how other teams/companies have Happy Hour..where people go to the bar/pub/restaurant on Fri after work and get a drink? Wouldn't it be nice if our team/department would do this too...What do you think? " Maybe she could send out the e-mail to everyone if you don't feel comfortable. That will help you become close to other coworkers (They'll be surprised at first but they WILL appreciate your effort to get to know them!)

Get involved in any volunteering activities that your company sponsors too.
