Question: Whenever my mom is arguing with someone she always says that they think they are better than her and everybody else. She says this to anyone she is arguing with whether it's me, my dad, my brother, my grandma, or any random person. What could be the reason for her to accuse people of this?

People with bipolar disorder have a serious problem organizing their emotions. This causes them to feel like everybody is against them and they should be controlling everything around them. People with this problem also tend to be manipulative and highly deceptive. I am well aware of all of these symptoms because I had an employer with bipolar disorder. If there is any way you can get some help for your mother I would look into it ASAP, because my employer lost the business she was in as well as owing me and many other employees back wages.

maybe its becasuse shes not confident in herself so she thinks that they think they're better then her because she dioesnt believe in herself enough

This may be one of her defense mechanisms. She may not know what else to say and uses this as a defense or an answer. She may feel badly about herself and not even realize it. By saying this to other people, she may feel better about herself..

It might be what her parents always said when she was a child and she learned it from them.

I think sometimes it becomes a set pattern for people to use certain phrases when they are upset.
My father always says to my mother, "You're always trying to start a fight." This is not the case at all.
I think words come out of the person's mouth that no longer have the meaning that was originally connected to them. They are empty phrases that can still, never the less hurt others.
Try to notice the same lines your mother uses over and over.
Try to realize that is just what they are.
