It depends on what kind of things you are talking about. If its just little things like something someone said, you may just have a concentration issue rather than a memory issue.

Talking to your dr is the best course of action if you are truly worried.

Try giving yourself some memory tests. You may find some online. Good luck.

Katherine is right. My wife can remember something I said on a Thursday night in 1998. I think she plays me sometimes on that. I am the poster boy for attention deficit disorder.

If they are monumental things, then I would be concerned why you do not remember them. Otherwise, your memory simply filtered it out because it wasn't important enough to remember.

In some instances, you may have been too young to remember them simply because you were too little to understand what was going on or because you did not have enough synapses created at the time. If they are more recent things, you may have not been paying complete attention to a conversation or you may have unconsciously deemed it unimportant.

If something is extremely traumatic, your mind can block it out, so you are no longer conscious it occurred.

Because of defence mechanisms that allow you to forget those things.

That is not such a bad thing! LOL

try listening to ELVIS & BARBRA STRIESAND some are etched in your mind some you simply "choose" to forget. The best suggestion I've got is to write a personal inventory. An average age when you start rembering is 3, write in no order of importance or suggnificents.Write every thing good bad happy or sad, what you did what was done to you etc.I was supprised how this triggerd many forgetten memmories.ps. this did not improve my current memmory.
