Is Adderall becoming a "performance enhancing" drug in American Univer!

Question: Over the past few years of my college education, I have heard rumors of other students taking Adderall ADHD medicine to enhance their concentration and memory. Has this been documented as a growing problem? What can a student do when they feel like they are at a disadvantage to the "enhanced" competition, especially when they have no specific suspects? I also have a feeling that this is more prevelant at land grant and other more prestiguous institutions, is this true? Please respond with anything that you think is relevant to this subject..

Unfortunately you are probably on to something. I have seen it to. The Calvinistic notion that, if a drug like Adderall helps you attend and concentrate better than it is a proof that you indeed have ADHD - is simply poppycock. The medication would enhance any body's attention and concentration, much like caffeine. However, karma may win in the end. I suspect that the increased incidence of Bipolar Disorder is related in some way to changes in the brain caused from psycho-stimulants taken over significant periods of time. This is supported in part by research on co-morbidity of adult Bipolar Disorder and history of pharmacological treatment for ADHD.

Don't know if it's really that performance enhancing, unless you really need it for your ADHD, and are absolutley medication compliant in your therapy. If these factors are not valid with these students, all you are competing with is a bunch of hopped-up speed freaks that will burn out soon enough in the work force, regardless of their qualifications. After all, it's Dexedrine. HIGHLY addictive. My question is where these 'competitors' are getting the dope... and where they'll be in five short years.

Hi...Yes, I seen this thing on MTV and how people abuse it and take it without any consent and stuff. It's pretty bad. I hope it stays on the market for people that really truly need it!
