Depakote Experiences?!
Question: Has anyone been on depakote (sodium valproate)? If so what dose can I expect the drug to kick in? I'm currently on 750 mg bd

I'm taking 1500mg a day.
My doctor has prescribed an antidpressant aswell because I am still low in motivation.
I was very sick when i first started taking it. I found eating something before I took it helped.
It sedates you and helps you sleep.
I want to come off it because it has increased my appetite and am eating too much.
It is suppose to be one of the better ones to use in that it is fast acting normally with in 72 hours of starting on it depending upon where you are at with your moods. Personally I could not handle the weight gain but that comes along with most of these types of medication. how it will effect you I simply do not know as all medications work different for us all and that's why there is no magic drug that cures/stabilizes all of us. take care good luck
Edit: also I would fall asleep a lot on it and thats not something you can do too much when you have 4 children under 7 years old.
