Is this depression or just really bad sadness?!

Question: Lately I just felt sad all the time. It's like I'm puting on a fake smile or something. The only time I guess I am happy is when I'm with my best friend. Just today I found out that I am going to be home alone with my brother(11) and we don't get along. I'm 13 by the way. I'm not happy on how I look. Recently I signed up for yoga and I was really happy about it but now I just don't really want to go to it. I cry almost every day and my room is dirty, normally my room is neat, organized and tidy. But now I just don't care. I know their are alot of people that have it bad but I just feel worthless. I'm tired and just so sad.

Is this just normal sadness or is this depression. I mean if I tell my parents they probably won't care and make me do more chores that I already have.

Happy New Year to all the people that are actually happy.

You are definately depressed. Probably your hormones, especially at that age. Tell your parents that you think you're depressed and you want help. If they deny it, then tell them to look at the evidence. Laying around, not participating in once like activities(Yoga), crying everyday, tired, feeling worthless. I've had bouts w/depressions since 13, now I'm 31. My dad still calls it "a crock of SH!T" He claims that people just get the blues sometimes.

It sounds like depression, but it could easily be temporary. How long has it been going on? I would say it is not "normal sadness", but it sure could be. Have you suffer trauma recently?
