I am SAD ALL THE TIME.......HELP?!

Question: I see a therapist every week, take meds regularly, exercise, watch my diet, meditate, pray, EVERYTHING. I have been diagnosed with depression since I was 9, and sometimes I'm pretty good at playing it off that I'm happy and that everything is fine. There are times when I feel so hopeless and worthless. I don't drink or use drugs. I usually don't feel suicidal, but when I do, I have a plan all worked out. I've even written my "good-bye" letters. Will I EVER get better?

Sorry you're having such a hard time right now.

How old are you?- I found that as I got older, my moods stabilized a lot more.
That said, it took me about three years and countless meds to find a combo that worked for me and I still have bad days.

When you're taking medicine (for a mood disorder) it usually takes at LEAST a month for it to kick in. During that time, you'll have all the rotten side effects with none of the benefits. A lot of people give up during that time, but you really need to stick to it. If you've taken a medicine for about 3 months and you still feel no better (or worse!), then ask your doctor about changing the dose, trying a separate drug or adding one to your cocktail.
Then you have to go through the whole adjustment period all over again.
It really is a pain in the rear, but finding the right combo can make all the difference in the world.

Also, take care not to isolate yourself no matter how badly you might want to.
And feel free to call the elders. I'm a "recovering" cutter, and during a shepherding call I revealed that. They were saddened and said I should never have to feel that way alone and if ever I got so low again (or before then even), to call them right away and they would just be there for me and talk to me.
You, too, do not have to suffer alone. There's a worldwide brotherhood there praying for you and eager to offer whatever help we can give.
And always remember Jehovah's love for his people and what he's promised for us in the future.

Are you using anti-depressiva? I've used it and it didn't work for you, but it doesn't mean it won't work for you and there are so many different brands and types of anti-depressiva. And if you've been depressed for so long, perhaps something bad happened to you in the past? Something you need to talk about to a therapist? And if not, perhaps there's more going on? Maybe you should get another diagnosis? Because depression could also be a symptom of something bigger and if you get diagnosed for that (and perhaps you should look up information about your symptoms on the internet as well) maybe they're able to help you better. Good luck!

Once treatment for depression begins, you still have to manage on a day-to-day basis. Here are some guidelines:

See your doctor regularly. Your doctor can monitor your progress, provide support and encouragement, and adjust your medication if necessary.
Take your medications. Finding the best medication for you may take several tries. It may take several weeks for you to start seeing results. Once you feel better, continue to take your medication as prescribed.
Don't become isolated. Try to participate in normal activities.
Take care of yourself. Eat a healthy diet and get the right amount of sleep and exercise. Exercise can help treat some forms of depression, ease stress and help you relax.
Avoid alcohol and recreational drugs. Abuse of alcohol and drugs will slow or prevent your recovery.
Depression can resist your best efforts to treat it. Understand what causes this kind of chronic depression and what treatments are available, including new medication strategies or alternative treatments.
Many people with depression get better with standard treatments
