Recreational drugs while taking anti depressants?!
Question: (I'm asking those who truly know the consequences. I know drugs are bad for me, so i don't need a moral lesson here. Just the facts, please.)
I currently take Effexor XR 37.5 for depression/anxiety and while I used to enjoy caffeine everyday, now I can't have any at all without flying off my rocker.
I used to enjoy a line of cocaine occasionally at parties, but the last time I tried any I thought my heart was going to stop! Not really, but it was more intense than normal, just like with caffeine.
My real question is about ecstacy. I only take it once a year at my favourite hippie festival, but I certainly don't want my heart to stop or feel uncomfortable.
If anyone currently or previously taking Effexor has any idea about this, please answer! I really don't need to hear (again) about of the 'normal' negative side effects of ecstacy, just if this particular anti depressant will make them worse.

Not sure about Ecstacy but the reason you felt the way you did when you did cocaine is b/c boosted your norepinhrine uptake. Since X typically gives you a sense of well being this may affect you in a negitive way if you take it. common side effects are Vertigo and seizures so be careful.
My husband said maybe the coke was better than normal :Pand i dont think the x is gonna effect you if its only once in a while.

I have some anxiety issues myself I would never do coke or take anxiety even if it wasn't taking meds for anxiety.
It only takes one time. You could possibly go into a coma and die OR nothing could happen. Ya wanna take the chance?
you should never mix drugs if you feel you have to you might consider stopping the depreesents for a few days prior.i was on antidepressent at one time and mixed with diet pills i was taken to a hospital by ambulance and was having seizures,i almost died .its extremely dangerous to mix drugs .you can also try buying a book on drugs ,it can tell you what cant be taken together
not sure about the coke, the only thing i can think of with the x is that it may make ur come down less depressing when ur high wears off due to the fact ur on an anti-d but im not saying do this either, matter of fact i wouldn't ive done all this **** a million times and im amazed im still alive but its getting old..not worth it anymore plus i think i finally found the right meds for me..ive been told if ur into drinking and hard drugs some meds take away that desire to use after awhile and im kinda starting to feel that way..and it is awesome..but its ur life dude...good luck
