Memory loss?!

Question: My husband is the most forgetful person in the world. He claims he has always had a problem with it and that he "can't help it". It's very frustrating because every single time he leaves this house for something, he comes back and has forgotten something, usually one of the more important items or tasks. I've made list after list for him, remind him over and over of what he needs to do and even call him while he is out to remind him again before he heads home, and every day without fail, he forgets at least a few things. It is getting frustrating to me and I am sick of having to keep track of my own thoughts and his all the time. What can I do to help improve his memory so that he can take care of some responsibilities for once??

Try getting him to take antioxidents, ginkgo biloba, Vitamin B complex, omega fatty acid and amino acid complex and NAC.
Any more I can't believe how bad peoples memories are getting. Many people have brain fog and some just can't connect thoughts. I was starting to feel this way until I started taking supplements.
If he is waking up tired you might want to get him taking magnesium at bedtime too. I have found that people that wake up tired have a hard time with their memory.

Avoid junk food, baked goods and other sweets as much as possible.
Also make sure he isn't getting aluminum. Avoid cooking and storing food in aluminum cookware. Avoid antacids they contain aluminum.

If he is taking blood or heart meds check with the doc to make sure the supplements are compatible with the meds.

I have to constantly tell people I can't be your brain and mine!

1. Get him a Franklin/Covey planner and insist he follow "The Method". My wife couldn't believe the difference it made in me.

2. Fish oil supplement pills. I totally notice the difference in me.

HA!! Good luck with that...I have dealt with your husbands' "twin" for years!! He won't change if you are ENABLING his forgetfulness..that has been my mistake!! Letting him suffer the consequences of his lack of memory is your only hope!!
For example: He forgets to set the alarm? Let him be late to work a few times!! Forgets his cell phone? He'll remember the next time! Forgets his dentist appointment? They will charge him for the missed appointment, which means less money to buy something he wants!
YOU have enough to think about, and trying to keep track of a person like this only causes you stress, and does NOT solve the problem!! Good luck!!

I would first talk to him about seeing a doctor. His dr may want to send him for some bloodwork to help rule out illnesses that may cause memory loss such as perhaps a thyroid problem and also send him for a cat (computerized axial tomography) of his head to rule out other things. If his medical status comes back all clear, perhaps he needs to pace himself more and get more organized, keeping a calender of his appointments and such. If he has ever had a head injury, that can cause the person to have difficulty with memory and organization. Some can benefit from cognitive therapy albeit not a panacea, cure all :)

dementia..?
