Stress !!!!!!!?!

Question: I know I talk about this a lot but all I can do is stress over school.

I finished my winter break and it is leading into the midterms. I am scared of it! I am SCARED of going to school.

I am an honor's student who is probably on the top of my class. Being at the top is not what I want but my perfectionist personality is all but killing me.... I cry everytime I think about school. I feel like I am going to fail my midterms!!

Take a deep breath, calm down. I've dealt with strees many times and don't concentrate on the negative and just think about solving the problems. Do something to take away the strees like go out jogging or something energetic. Don't bite your fingers or over-eat.

Congratulate yourself for having good accomplisments in your academic career but work on solving the problems if there is a possible bad grade or less than expected grade in a test or class and concentrate on doing your best such as scoring that A on an exam to cut out an A in the class or talk to a professor to possibly do extra credit or something to make the cut.

If your strees is bad to where you have trouble sleeping or otherwise functioning, go see a professional. It can be very helpful, but if its not that bad just try something different.

video games were originally intended to entertain, side effect of forgetting current events. Play some video games!

School. When I think of school i think of, when is the next test? Neither do I fear it nor Favor it. Just don't think! that always works.

'If you fail you fail all one can do is try his/her best and you cannot deny that' - Quoted from myself

I have gone through all of that that you have. Just wait it off. Maybe take a day for yourself and just relax, read a book. But just dont be so hard on your self, you dont want to break down all together

you can do is just try you r best ,do not worry about the result!!.i think you are nice

Maybe you should consider taking a break from school. You sound overwhelmed. Stress and anxiety are serious and if school is the trigger, then maybe you should take some time (a semester), talk to a counselor about how to cope with your school load, then start again this summer.

yeah. and then you have to get a job? wow.

at some point you should celebrate your achievements and thereby shift your energy from achieving momentarily, which is causing the stress.

i suggest that when you DO celebrate that you choose a healthy form of celebration because, apparently, you do everything you do as well as you can. (i.e. you might be in danger of going from straight A's to straight Alcoholic if you celebrate with drinking)

like, maybe when you pass the next quiz or something, take a camping trip! (don't take your books! make it a short one so you don't ruin it worrying about getting behind in your studies.)

Stress is something we bring on ourselves. We all experience anxiety and certain levels of if makes us perform better. Don't be so hard on yourself - being an honor student is an accomplishment, which you should be proud - but remember there are students that will be better than you no matter how much you try and students that will be worse than you. Pat yourself on the back for your accomplishments so far - but remember a C or B is not the end of the world - we all have to learn to fail before we can succeed. What would be the worse thing if you failed your midterms - certainly not the end of the world - just do the best you can. Don't dwell on the negatives only the positives.

You won't fail. I'm in honor's as well. My midterms happened right before Winter Break. I freaked too! It was my first time being a freshmen and all. Just make sure you study! At the end of the midterm you're going to feel like you failed, but once you get you're Report card in the mail you'll be happy. Trust me. Just don't get so stressed. It's unhealthy. Good luck!

find a hobby, riding horses, dance, get on a sports team (the excerise would help the stress, i'm sure ur school has a swimming or scoccer or track team), do activies with church or a youth group, anything to get out of the house and away from school for FUN. not as another task to be perfect at, as something fun that you can be urself at. It may only be an hour or two a week durning the weekends but it'll be a start and something to look forward too. As for school, there is life afterwards. Just keep surving, i hated school, couldn't take the pressure high school made me sucidal the drama and stress of it all. College is soooooo much fun and sooooo much better and you make lasting friends and are away from your parents and can meet guys and have fun. Life isn't all about school it's about the ride and the fun you have getting to your goals, enjoy it. Do what you can do but have a life at some point you come to a breaking point and go screw it and discover the fun of life. U'll always be a serious over-acheiever but there is a line between obsession and reality. Look for and find the reality you and everyone around you will be tons happier.

Sorry to hear about your loss. I lost my mother 4 years ago to cancer and I still think about her everyday. It's a difficult time for you now but YOU WILL BE JUST FINE. You never forget them and somehow I still feel like she is looking over me. I try not to disappoint her and she gives me strength to battle any adversity. As far as school work, don't overwhelm yourself, you have to make time for yourself and do something you love. Your studies are very important, because your work ethic now will more than likely determine who you will be in the future, but you have to make time for the things you love. Take up a hobby or play a sport. I joined a boxing gym and I relieve stress through boxing. I don't actually spar or fight, but I enjoy the training. I also enjoy dancing, listening to music, cooking and fixing things around the house. Don't look for outlets such as drinking or drugs. They also lead to progressively worse alternatives, especially drinking if not done responsibily instead of to the point of intoxication - but that's another animal entirely. Also, talk with family or a close friend about how you feel. Support from family and friends is nice during difficult times. BTW, when you do study find ways to make it fun. Join a study group or study with friends friends from school. You don't have to hate school, you just have to change your approach. Good luck on your mid-terms. I'm sure you'll do just fine, and when you do reward yourself.
