Am I crazy,or do I have COD or some kind of anxiety disorder?!

Question: Over the past couple of years I have become more and more obsessed with germs. I figured its just good sense to be clean, but my issues have gotten worse and are starting to really interfere with my career and social life. I also have a really hard time being in public places or anywhere that is crowded. I work in a school and find myself dreading having to be around all the kids and staff to the point that I want to quit my job. I also am weird about cleanliness of pillowcases, sheets, taking showers (sometimes 2 or more a day), etc. What is weird to me though is that my families germs don't really bother me that bad, but other people and their germs freak me out. I also am okay with dirtiness from outside and from animals, its just that I can't stand other peoples' germs. I don't really know what anxiety is, but I think that I may have some issues with worrying to much about this stuff. My little issues were cute to my wife at first, but they have become a burden on my life.

I think your last sentence says it all...if you feel like your quality of life or functioning are being impaired by this, then it may be time to seek professional help. OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder) is an anxiety disorder, though there are many other types of anxiety disorders that exist.

Your best bet is to seek professional help, either from a mental health professional or your primary care doctor.

Good luck!

You have obsessive compulsive disorder. Medication can help you. Talk to your Dr.

get some auditing man.
www.dianeics.org
you're got a problem man. You don't have any sort of disorder, but you've got a problem. irrational thoughts and irrational fears. Before you lose your wife and lose yourself, get some auditing.
go to www.dianetics.org and find out how to get some of it. you're wife can even do it on you. if you buy the dvd of dianetics and watch it.
really, it's that easy.

To me it sounds like you might have an anxiety disorder, but really a psychiatrist is needed to determine that. You should see one as soon as possible so he can prescribe you something if needed since this is interfering with your social life and career. Anxiety is very common these days.

i think you have ocd.
you should talk to your doctor about medication

I think you may have ocd. There's nothing wrong with taking medication to help your life. Do see a doctor so that they can properly diagnose you.

Good luck.
