? related to "do you think of death on a daily basis" question?!

Question: have you ever just been scared
i dont know how to explain it.
like scared that something bad is going to happen to you. for no reason
and you try not to think about it and think about good things, but then it consumes your mind and everything you think of turns into something bad?

or am i crazy?

You are not crazy, but it sounds as though you are suffering from generalized anxiety disorder. I have the same problem. Counseling is better than medication, I think.

My counselor mentioned that anxiety is basically worrying about what's going to happen in the future, but most of us are doing relatively well right this minute. Recently I've been repeating to myself "right now, I'm ok" and most of the time that helps. I repeat it over and over, in time with my breathing.

Good luck.

I don't think you're crazy...it's just a fear.....fear kills people.
in my example I have something a fear a lot and I think about all the time....it's not healthy...it's called an obsession....
just try to find where it comes from? when it starter? you may get surprised...you may find what is it and cut it out.
something caused that fear to explode that way...it's not healthy for you to think about negative things all the time cause you will attract it.... try to find the root fo the fear.

the medical term is called catastrophizing, always assuming the worth. You are not crazy but you may have an anxiety problem. Its a big mental test were you have to take full control of your mind and block those thoughts.

do you think everyone is going to get a divorce, steal, and quit there jobs now, i feel sorry for the poor woman.

YES!! Im exactly like that, i hate being that way but im worry ALOT about something bad happening to me or someone i love (mainly my little boy) Its a really irrational fear and i always try to tell myself that what is the liklihood of something awful happening, like dying in an accident or something. But then my brain thinks "Well the people that it happens to probably thought it wasnt likely and it still happened to them!" I dont know how to stop thinking that way either, i dont know if it comes from being really over-sensitive or something cuz i know even when i hear about tragedies that have happened to other people it really upsets me. :o/ I think the only thing you can do is to do what youre doing and try to think about good things cuz life is short and you dont want to spend it worrying yourself to death over things that are so unlikely to happen. x

I know exactly what you mean. I think about stuff like that all the time and always ask myself if I am crazy. I think it might be some type of paranoia of OCD or something. Sometimes I'll see something that needs to be done and I'll walk by it and as I walk by it for some reason I think that if I don't do it something bad will happen. Then I think twice about it and I'm like nothing bad wil happen then I keep on thinking about it and I have to go back and do it because I feel like if I don't then something really bad will happen to me and I get really scared. I also do that sometimes at night when I'm trying to go to bed. I'll be kind of scared because I'm home alone and I'll just lay there and try to think of happy things then all of a sudden I'll start thinking about bad things happening to my family or me and I can't get it out of my head. Its weird.
