You will be a lot less focused and have less energy. You could find yourself falling asleep during the day. Also it will be harder for your body to fight off illnesses, so it will make it a lot easier for you to be sick. Additionally, when you sleep deeply and dream (whether you remember your dreams or not) your body puts whatever information you have been learning into your memory, so for school and life in general it's good to get enough sleep. And you don't reach this stage unless you get a full night's rest. As for your concerns, if you are getting all the right nutrients and are eating enough, lack of sleep won't stunt your growth. I would like to add that getting too much sleep is not a good idea either, it can just make you feel more drowsy and tired. Also, you can't NOT get enough sleep during the school week and then "make up" for it on the weekends by sleeping a lot....your body doesn't work that way. I hope this helped some.

umm u would fall asleep during the day??

A 1999 study[13] found that sleep deprivation resulted in reduced cortisol secretion the next day, driven by increased subsequent slow-wave sleep. Sleep deprivation was found to enhance activity on the Hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (which controls reactions to stress and regulates body functions such as digestion, the immune system, mood, sex, or energy usage) while suppressing growth hormones. The results supported previous studies, which observed adrenal insufficiency in idiopathic hypersomnia.

The puberty thing is a myth, if you are malnourished then you have to worry about not getting taller. At your age not sleeping enough will effect your mental capabilities the most, you might have trouble focusing and comprehending new ideas. Also there are some studies that show that lack of sleep in teens can led to depression. Lack of sleep also suppresses your immune system so you can get sick easier. I would suggest sleeping more if you want to do good and school and not constantly be getting sick.
