I need an honest opinion on my drug use, and if it's a big deal or not.?!

Question: I am turning 15 in two weeks, I go to a special charter school in Houston, I am in all honors classes, have a 3.8 GPA, have many friends, have a good relationship with my family, and i am constantly abusing pharmaceuticals recreationally. I am extremely interested in pharmacuticals, and i plan to study abroad in France and work for the pharmaceutical company Sanofi-Aventis when I'm older. I know the stereotype that all teenagers think they know everything, but when i come to drugs, i know my way around the half lives, mode of action, which drugs are metabolized by the CY2D6 gene of nearly every abuse-able pharmaceutical under Walgreen's roof. I started experimenting with drugs when I was 12 years old, and i was upset and felt out of place when my mother re-married, i found some Vicodin my mother had for back pain, and i found it could not only ease pain but it could smooth the edges of my life. From then on i have used Adderall,Ativan,Klnopin,Oxycontin,Lortab...

You just mentioned all of your great qualitys. You just admitted that you have a lot going for you and a lot to lose if you continue down this path. Let me give you my experience and you can make an educated decision from that. I started out recreationaly dabbling with vicodin and oxy's ETC.. I ended up a heroin addict. I now have been clean for 16 months. But I had to endure months of hell to get where I am today. This same thing has happened to dozens od people that I know. Some went to harder opiates (heroin) and some lost everything on just Vicodin. A few of my friends and acquaintences are dead from either suicide, or other drug related deaths. As addicts, we are usually intelliegent caring, and kind people. But we take drugs to self-medicate. To cope with life and stress. Or to numb ourselves from the past or future. Addiction is a progressive disease. What you consume now makes you feel as if you are functioning better and dealing with life better. But eventually that will progress. You will need more or stronger or use more often just to get the same affect. But there will be a day when even using hundreds of dollars of heroin a day doesn't numb ourselves anymore. I tell you this from my experience. And from the experience of hundreds of other who I have spoken with. Working a 12 step program with an experienced sponser will teach you how to let go of the past and how to best handleourselves. I highly recomend it. I now function better than I did before I did drugs. I fought my addiction for years. Mainly because I was a highly functioning addict. Even on heroin. But I was oblivious to the destruction that I was causing. My world finally crumbled in all at once, and I lost everything. My marriage, my job, I was facing 30 felonies (due to being around the wrong people). I lost the respect of all of my loved ones. Not to count the pain that I put everyone through. My ex-wife to this day crys and balls when I speak to her. She still loves me but can't understand why my behaviors were so awful. That is a hard pill to swallow. We only talk about once every 6 months. Please, get help throgh an anynomous program. You will not regret it. But you will have many regrets to live with if you don't. The only people that I have seen who have left drugs successfiully were those who went through A.A. or N.A. I wish you the best. Take Care and e-mail me anytime. Marty P.S. It may not appear as a big deal, but it is and it will soon appear that way if you continue this path. Thats how addiction works. Cunning, Baffling and powerful.

umm, dont take those drugs, they will kill you
not a smart thing to do.
just, i will pray for you.

You know the answer.
Its like filling a barrel with water, one day its gonna overflow.

But hey!! Its your call.

If you know about drugs, then you know it's all about chemistry. You should also be familiar with the monographs regarding those drugs, and know that there are a LOT of drugs with undocumented side-effects, whether anybody admits it or not. Sooner or later, you WILL hit on a combo that will either kill you or fry your brain so that you'll won't be able to pump gas, let alone become a pharmacist or chemist.

You, my young friend, have a problem. You can't see it because of the drugs; it's circular, and it won't quit. Stop NOW, before it's too late.

I think it's bad for you in the long term and it may cause bad illness to you in the future

First of all, why are you using prescription drugs? I also think that you should look at the reasons why you are using prescription drugs, then try to get help.

You'll never get to France by playing with tablets..you may actually damage yourself. Start getting interested in Chinese herbal medicine. Its amazing what it can cure and books in English are available from Amazon or a good public library. Start helping people now before you become a pharmacologist.

First off Happy New Year and a Happy Birthday. I say that knowing that in all likelihood you will be dead by your next birthday in 2009. Yes, you know everything there is to know about medications. My Psychiatrist who went to doctor's school and then to mental doctor's school, once prescribed a combination of medications to me that interacted badly. It was not a side effect listed in the PDR or any other place. I was lucky because he had told me a long time ago that when I take a new medication be sure to watch out for side effects and if I have one go see him or the emergency room pronto.

So what I am telling you, you smart 15 year old, is that you are a junky. You know how much is too much. You know it all. Well, junky, one day you will take all those drugs you know everything about and not wake up.

So wake up and smell the roses and get some mental illness help to get you off your addiction.

i think its great that you'r so interested in pharmaceuticals and that you want to be a pharmacist but that doesn't mean you have to try all of them especially at your age. its really unhealthy to be taking all of the pills at such a young age. just start studying about all the drugs so when its time for college you'll be way ahead of the game. but stop taking all of the drugs so you won't have any illnesses by the time you're ready for college. if you can't stop yourself bc maybe you're depressed when your mother got re-married i think it would be really good if you saw a therapist. they really do help.

Man hook me UP. :) Just kidding. I honestly don't think drug use is a big deal at all. As long as you have your priorities for your future straight. Some people might say that makes no sense... but I think you would understnad what I mean by that.

i say, if you can function, youre okay.
just be aware of side effects and stuff.
