I thought that all psychotics are episodic....

Psychosis means that you can hear voices or have sensations of things which aren't really there, and those perceptions damage your ability to negotiate the real world.

I think, when normal people esperience 'hearing voices,' they're actually experiencing an auditory memory. They know it's a memory, and it doesn't influence their actions in any way.

I think, when psychotic people 'hear voices,' they can become influenced by the inner voices to the extent that they can no longer clearly perceive or function in the real world.

I don't believe that normal people ever have psychotic episodes; if they did, they'd be psychotics and need to take medication to control them.

I don't believe in the legal term 'temporary insanity,' either. A person might have a temporary loss of self-control because of anger, but he never loses awareness of where he is or what he's doing.

I think in this day and age, everyone is a little psycho in their own way. Everyone freaks out over something every now and then

Absolutely.

yea....they do ...im normal and i juss had one

there is no such thing as normal behavior. everyone is different and anyone could act like a looney out of the blue.

Of course. I had one today : )

There are people who are permanently psychotic, but that is very rare. Most people just have one on the rare occasion and that's it

Now they would not be normal then now would they,,, it would be very rare to have a psychotic episode

I don't know I know I am a psycho that has occasional normal episodes

I think they were using that term rather loosely. For example, you go through a major trauma and have a "psychotic episode". But was it? Or was it something else?

all normal people do..if ya don't then Ur not normal...that's my opinion...we're all human!

So little is known about our brains and how they work! The truth is, we don't even know what to consider a "psychotic episode."

But it is well known that LSD can lead to flashbacks, and these have been widely acknowledged to be "psychotic episodes."

It is possible for anyone to have an episode. Ever hear of a bad hair day ?
Sometimes all it is is relieveiving stress from daily life.
You know, balance your checkbook ? Get your bills paid ?
How is your girlfriend ? Job going okay ?
Stress is a part of life. Sometimes people just need to vent a little to get back on track.

i do things at least once a week & question myself..lol & i think i'm otherwise normal..But who knows maybe i'm really crazy..

Once or twice a day, at least!

Were you diagnosed as "not normal"?
Doctors are "DRUG DEALERS"!
This is true!
"They" are not normal!

Trust in yourself!
God Bless!

Hmmm...well I think that everyone has an occasional freak out. If it happens like every day multiple times, then there is probably a problem. If not, I'm sure you are fine!

Yes of course. Example. Mary has led a hard life. She grew up in a home full of conflict and no easy outs. She had to quit her education early to find a job because she could no longer stand to live at home. Mary is very nice and kindhearted and she kept all her anger, confusion and pain to herself. Now she's in a job with an employer that is constantly picking on her, in a relationship with a man who cheats on her but always says sorry and comes back only to use her and do it again. One day in a way unexpected all the stress and pain and anger and frustration will explode out of her and in that moment she will be insane. It's not permanent but it can be very damaging to herself and all around her. And if she doesn't reach the place where she can talk her emotions out instead of burying them deep inside the outbursts will come more and more until she genuinely is a mess who will need years of therapy and medication to hopefully one day get back on track. Also consider acts like road rage...those are psychotic because the driver loses control and puts themselves and those around them in danger by that loss of control. So yes dear, normal people can experience occaisional psychotic episodes which can turn into disorders that need treatment if not nipped in the bud. Wisdom and control and knowing yourself are keys to effectively achieve or regain normal behavior if steps are taken after the first episode. Hope this helps!

P.S. Great loss, death of a loved one, or an attack can also bring about what may seem psychotic when it is in fact the individuals way of venting and handling the pain.

I hope you found this helpful.
Pami

I think everyone gets a little psychotic at certain times in their life. Like when you break up with someone you love or someone dies, than you can get all kinds of wierd feelings. But remember time does heal.

no, thank God ,as a general rule so called normal people don,t have the type of episodes you suggest. there are times in a person's life where circumstances may create stress and a person's ability to cope may be impaired. some people may turn to drugs or alcohol. some judgment may be considered risky and not socially acceptable. the types of breaks you are talking about are rooted in mental illness, and are not just the occasional fit of anger.
