Question: Yep, it affects many kids. I have a son with the issue and he went to an OT for some time until we both learned skills to help him manage it. It is difficult for people to understand it and it is best to read some of the good books out there on the subject. There are some books with sensory activities to do with kids as well as sensory toys and CD's to use. I found much of these helpful. Good luck.

Sensory Integration Dysfunction is the inability of the brain to correctly process information brought in by the senses. Sensory Integration Dysfunction (SID/DSI) or sensory processing deficits can come in many different forms. No two children will be affected in the same ways. SID/DSI was first noticed in children with autism or who had autistic traits but is also seen in children with other disabilities such as cerebral palsy or ADD/ADHD or can be present by itself.
