Question: I've taken a number of antidepressant cocktails. They seem to work at first but either I get worse or they stop working for me. I recently was re-diagnosed with Bipolar II and switched to Lamictal. It took a while to get to the correct dose because you have to do it slowly, but right now it seems to be working. Lexapro and Welbutrin also worked well for me....for a while. I would stay away from effexor XR though. It made me so tired and when my doctor tried to take me off, the withdrawls were so horrible I almost lost my job. You get what is refered to as "brain zaps" and they are just an awful feeling. Some people say it helps them, but I hated it.

I have taken zoloft in the past for depression but i think i was misdiagnosed and the underlying root of my depression has been anxiety. social anxiety to be exact.
i havent taken anything else but im interested in finding something to relieve my anxiety symptoms.

I've tried just about every anti depressant out there. The only one that helped me is Cymbalta. As far as my axiety, Xanax is perfect.
yes, I'm bi-polar and have been on many anti-depressants in my life, also to calm the manic episodes, I've had to take anxiety medications. Now, I just take a mood stabilizer, not taking any anxiety or anti-depressants.
Yes, I was on Paxil for about 3 weeks and I didn't like it, then the doc put me on lexapro and it was great. I was on that for 8 months and now I take xanax and that too works great. I was on those meds for anxiety. The anxiety I had was horrible. I would have panic attacks in my sleep and I thought I was going crazy because one day I was fine and the next day I had a huge problem with anxiety. I am doing a lot better now. Yes, I am BiPolar and am taking several anti-depressants and one anti-anxiety med and one mood stabilizer. My psychiatrist says my current drug cocktail is "very complicated" but it seems to be working I guess.
