Can a person help whether or not they have a personality disorder?!

Question: In other words, could someone realize they fit a certain PD discription or realize they have habit of doing something and then just decide to get out of the habit of doing all of that?

I true, psychological, medical personality disorder is going to take more than just the will power to stop acting a certain way. That's like telling someone with diabetes to just snap out of it. However, with therapy, a person can learn to control the symptoms. Medication may also be needed.

That being said, not everyone who is diagnosed with a personality disorder has an actual medical condition. Still, therapy is usually needed to change years and years worth of behavioral patterns.

I have OCD, and I can control it for the most part without medication. It's very hard and tiresome, but I don't want to take meds or talk to a shrink because of it. So yes, it's possible. Just takes a lot of willpower.

I still have many OCD habits, and I allow the ones that are not harmful, which helps me prevent the ones that are.

i'm assuming your problem is erronously frantic masturbation at every time of the day right? i suggest stick an icy up there eventually you'll cool off the whole horny school girl thing trust me, my grandma had the same problem when she was 68 and i totally helped through by constantly burning cigarettes over her forehead and pissing on it. I'm telling you get a friend to do that and you'll be more than fine.

It is definitely possible to change that behavior, especially with professional help. As long as the problem isn't organic (as with schizophrenia and others), behavior can be changed. Even with chemical imbalances, medication can moderate the illness so that some changes can be made to behavior.

Self diagnosing can do more harm than good. Getting properly diagnosed by a clinician can alleviate any questions you have concerning personality disorders.
