A roach is just a bug, not harmful at all. You can desensitize yourself by practicing self-talk and not avoiding contact.

Catch (or get help doing this) a few live ones and place in a jar with a lid. Keep the jar nearby and observe the roaches. Try putting some food in the jar, crumbs, fruit etc. to see if they will eat it.

Hold the jar and look closely at the roaches. All the time that you do this, tell yourself that these are just harmless bugs, that there is nothing they can do to you, that they have harmless habits, etc.

Do this daily for a while. Eventually try to keep the jar with roaches in your room, and then try to take the lid off and look in. Continue to talk about the harmlessness of the roaches each day.

Eventually you will notice that watching the roaches is becoming routine rather than scary.

no

yeah i am scared of those nasty bugs. if one is dead then i have to get the vacuum out. if it is alive then i get the bug spray out and wait for them to die and vacuum them up. one work acquaintance told me that they are more afraid of you then you are of them, it should of worked but it does not. you might read up on them to understand roaches. god i am so glad we do not have flying roaches where i live.
