candyman1 - I am sorry you are feeling depressed. Here's an NLP (neurolinguistic programming) technique I learned that you can use anytime you want to feel better.

This takes a little set-up but once you get it, you can do it really quickly.

The set up: Get a couple of pieces of paper (or some 3x5 cards). Think up several things that REALLY made you laugh in the past and write those on the paper (one per page). For me, for example, I think of the movie Scrooged and the scenes where The Ghost of Christmas Present (Carol Kane) keeps repeatedly slapping Frank (Bill Murray) really hard in the head while at the same time she's doing this really crazy laugh. That scene in the movie really cracks me up.

Think of at least 3 things that made you really laugh, better yet 10 and write one on each piece of paper. The things you write down should be something you've SEEN and HEARD, like a joke you saw a comedian do, a scene from a move or television show or something from your life.

The procedure: Find a place where you can be alone, where you cannot be seen or heard and where you will not be bothered for a few minutes. Sit down with the papers in front of you. CLOSE YOUR EYES and FOCUS WITHIN YOURSELF. NOW SMILE AS WIDE AS YOU CAN AND MAKE YOURSELF LAUGH (even if it feels really fake). Now keep smiling and laughing, open your eyes and read your first paper. Now,close your eyes, keep smiling and laughing and in your mind, SEE AND HEAR the scene. Run the scene over in your mind a couple of times.

Now keep smiling and laughing, open your eyes and read your second paper. Now,close your eyes, keep smiling and laughing and in your mind, SEE AND HEAR the second scene and run it through your mind a couple of times. Repeat this process for each of your papers. In a few minutes you will find yourself REALLY laughing and the laughter will make you feel so much better.

Once you master this technique (and it's really easy to do), you can use it anytime you want to feel better. After you get used to doing it, you will be able to do it without closing your eyes. All you will have to do then is smile, start yourself laughing and thinking of funny things and then your will find yourself REALLY laughing.

Your meds may not be strong enough.Talk to your doctor about that.Try writing why you are so depressed. It helps some. I can relate to well to your problem.I try to make myself do housework or read or write but it doesn't help sometimes it makes it worst.

check with the doc and he may increase you meds or change it up have you given it time it takes about 30 days to work.

Sorry to hear that you're feeling rubbish. Try doing some exercise to release some endorphines or go away somewhere warm for a relaxing holiday - the sunshine can work wonders. Basically anything that will break the routine will help in my experience

What kind of meds are you on? I have been under the state of depression for ten years now and I just recently found something that works (for me). Finding the right medication can be a long drawn out process. You have to give meds about a month to work and if you don't feel anything then tell your doctor to either try upping your dose or switch the medication itself. I am currently on Celexa and I started on 40 mg and a few days ago I went back to the doctor and told him what was going on in my life (stress) and why I needed a stronger dose and he put me on an extra 10 mgs. Have patience with the meds. I know things get frustrating and you feel like you really don't have the time to wait, but hang in there. It will get better! If you have a friend or family member you can confide in, that would really help. Just explain the things that are going on in you life and get it off your chest. I hope you feel better.
