Stomach bugs........?!

Question: I have emetophobia and I got told the other day that there is a sickness bug going around, it has made me feel really scared!

How do we catch sickness bugs?
And how can I help prevent myself getting it?
I was scared going out today, thinking that I might catch it!

Please be nice, this is really and truely frightening for me.

Thanks

Awh i feel for you, im terrified to!, i also have emetophobia, and i only just found out about this, my mum had been trying to stop seeing about it, but a friend told me. Make sure you wash your hands, when you come in, before eating, after using the bathroom. Also when you go out, try and avoid touching your face untill you have washed your hands, like mouth, nose and eyes. Sickness bugs are spread by either contaminated food, also by hands, like someone is ill, they then dont wash there hands, touch a surface, then you touch it and put your hands in your face, i dont think these bugs are airbourne, so you cant catch it from breathing in, unless you're standing right next to a person while they are vomiting. Hope that helped. Take care.

Apparently there is a serious bug going around causing vomiting and diarrhoea, the advice is to stay at home if you have it because its highly contagious. so perhaps if you hear of someone having it stay well away.

It seems your more likely to catch it in places with many people, like schools etc. If you know someone who has it, avoid them (especially the area in which the sick person has vomited) and keep your personal hygiene at a high standard. Like washing your hands etc.

same as you dont worry please just make sure you wash your hands things like that be lucky

The current bug going round is a very contagious air borne virus... Causes sickness and diarrhoea and severe stomach pain. Lasts up to 3 days. Advice is stay at home, keep warm. drink plenty of fluid, do not bother GP or hospital unless absolutely necessary. Take paracetamol. So shut yourself away for a while .

best thing to do is stay away from anyone who even coughs, anyways just stay inside, and keep your hands washed.

i have a great deal of sympathy with you, some of the 'tricks' that our minds play on us are very real and stressful. You can get help nowdays and i strongly suggest that you do. In the meantime learn and practise relaxation techniques they really do help, i know!
The bug is a 12/24 bug that needs just water and paracetamol, so keep away from people who have it. keep your hands clean at all times.
Now if you get it try to see this as a chance to control your feelings and keep reassuring yourself that nothing serious will happen to you, it will get better but sometimes the pain has to get worse to get better if you see what i mean.
good luck

I seriously feel exactly the same as you, I'm really worried about going back to school where aparently it spreads fast. I need someone to put my mind at rest. Sorry I cant give advice, only sympathise with you because I feel the same. It's truely terrifying for people who have these sorta phobias. I hate the feeling of paranoia I start to get about these things but I guess all we can do is wash our hands lots, try to prepare your own food - im not getting school lunches cos people will touch them that might be ill- and stear clear of ill people. I'm just praying it doesn't affect my school or someone doesnt chuck up in class otherwise I'll freak out. Actually this isn't very helpful, I'm probably just passing on my fears to you.
All my best of luck to you, i really understand how you feel

I saw the bit on the news about this sickness and diaharrea bug..aparently its spreading like wild fire.
They said not to go to the hospital or doctors in case of infecting others with it. It also said to stay at home, and keep warm, do not go to school, or work unless you have been clear of the sickness and diahrrea for at least 48 hours.
as for preventing it, i would just do the normal stuff: Make sure that you ALWAYS wash your hands after using the toilet, and make sure you keep on top of your hygiene.

who needs them ibs is bad enough
