Answers: do we really suck..n ruin the life of our close friends???

I think sometimes I definitely suck...god knows, there are many times that I would get the heII away from me if I could. On the other hand, I can be the most loyal and compassionate person.

The good: People with bpd often have a tendency to be very empathetic and intuitive about other people's situations. Their impulsivity can mean being a lot of fun to be around.

The bad: Feeling rejected or disappointed by somebody can result in an intense, irrational reaction from borderlines. Impulsivity can lead to self-destructive behaviors and decisions. It can be hard for others to watch one make mistakes that turn life upside down and/or hurt other people. Chaos tends to be a part of life for the borderline patient.

Meds can help some symptoms and co-occurring disorders, but the most effective treatment tends to be long-term cognitive behavioral therapy. Without changing the way in which we perceive and respond to things (our own feelings, other people, situations, etc.)...there is no real improvement for any length of time.

No we dont. You just have to be put on the right kind of medication so that you are able to function correctly in society

wow i am boarderline personality disorder i have alot of friends i don't think i suck i think i am a nice loving gentle careing person i am on medication for it and am doing well i cannot believe there was an artical like that.

Unfortunately BPD is often misunderstood and has an often negative reputation, partly due to the fact that it was over diagnosed for a long time. The tide is slowly turning as more is understood. Please don't think that you suck and ruin the lives of those close to you. That is really not true. With the right support, treatment and help you can learn to modify (if necessary) any behavior which has a negative impact on your life and relationships. My best friend has BPD and at times it can be very hard for, but the person most affected by her disorder is her. She has certainly never ruined my life, quite the opposite. She is one of the most caring, supportive people I know. Yes at times when she goes through a rough patch it is not easy but I lived with her through a very rough time and at her worst she was still someone I found it easy to care for and love. So please don't take that article to heart.
