Bipolar or Hormones?!

Question: I am a Thirteen-year-old female, and I think I might have a bipolar disorder. I have random outbursts of rage and I want to severely hurt me or someone else. But I also cry and laugh alot. My mood swings are very extreme. It may just be really bad hormones, but I don't know.

This is something you should definitely see your doctor about. If it's hormones, you can take medication to level things off. If it's bipolar disorder you should be referred to a psychologist or psychiatrist so they can make an assessment and get you started on a regime of medicine. Once the find the right combination you'll feel much better. My daughter was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about a year ago. She sees a psychotherapist regularly to talk about how she's been doing and also see how the meds are working. Every now and then she has blood work done to make sure everything is doing what it should.
If you see your doctor and mention your fears, it will be easier for them to get help for you. The sooner you see the doctor, the sooner you can get this cleared up.
Good luck.

Your hormones have bipolar disorder. Not you.

No that doesn't sound like bi-polar. It sounds very normal for someone your age.

It's probably a combination of hormones and just growing up. I really don't think it's bi-polar (I'm POSITIVE it's not).

Diet really has a lot to do with how you act and deal with life. If you've been eating really shi**y, then you'll probably want to bite off everyones head. And, if you're low on sleep, tired, etc. it really makes you more inclined to have bad mood swings.

Also, if you have a lot of stress in your life -- and /or people in your life who MAKE YOU FEEL DOWN OR REALLY STRESSED, then you'll be inclined to rage or worse.

It sounds a bit like: you're doing really well in life, then doing really badly. You might have some one in your life that makes you miserable. Friend or family member - teacher???

If this is the case, the trick would be to figure out how to handle those situations in your life.

Best of luck.
