How can I stop myself from compulsively picking every body scab I get?!

Question: I suffer OCD & Tourette's Syndrome. They say it's a Tourette's tic to pic your scabs. It's ruining my skin, but I just CAN'T help it. I can't stop.

Put a band-aid on any cut you get. The pain of taking off the band-aid should help you stop this habit.

If you are worrying about it looking dorky, then remember this: you only wear a band-aid for a few days or a week, but a scar caused by picking scabs can be permanent!

I am also a skin picker from way back.
I have heard there are medications to help with this.
I am not taking a specific medication for this.
You can try to keep your hands busy doing other things.
Try wearing long sleeves, pants and socks when you are at home. For me, think doing this may help relieve stress.
I notice at times I will pick more than at other times.
It seems to come and go with me.
Good Luck and I know it is hard to stop. Maybe you can think about just cutting down.
