How to interact with people...?!

Question: I am having a hard time interacting with people with my depression. Every little thing someone says really gets me down, at the same time I realize "hey have they always been treating me like this and now I'm just realizing it?" I mean a lot of people tell me others walk over me but I don't believe it because I'm just so busy and too independent to care... until now... I can't do any homework or any clubs and sports anymore and so now I analyze things a lot easier. Also my sister thinks my whole depression is just a joke and is telling me I'm being overdramatic about everything. It stresses me out so much I get the shakes and its 6am still havent gone to sleep so stressed out! I am in therapy and going to start medication today... but in the meanwhile what do I do?

It's also 6am here...I should go to bed too. Maybe after this:

Depression can be quite powerful, as you know. You're in therapy, which is great. You'll feel better after the meds.

The people around you aren't being understanding. Maybe they think you're trying to get attention. Doesn't really matter, as long as you push yourself through this and believe you can do it. Since you've already explained your situation to your friends/sister, there's not much else you can do. Just trust your therapist and you will get better.

When you're down, try keeping a journal/diary to help extract your thoughts...you don't want them to stay trapped in your head.

You're already smart. Trust yourself, stay positive, and treat yourself every now and then. What do you like to do? Next time you're feeling sad, do that! When you're happy, try to really feel that emotion.

The depression is merely a state of mind; it is not a part of you. It can be beaten. Your therapist will find the best approach to that.

Just like Peter Pan, think happy thoughts!

I'm sorry you're feeling so stressed. I suppose it's hard for your sister and friends to understand what you're going through if they've never experienced anything like that themselves. It's good that your mother supports you and that you'll be starting treatment today- you should start feeling better soon. It must be really tough- good luck!

you may be having social anxiety disorrder, go see a family doctor and tell him bieng around people gives u bad anxiety, i'm' on zoloft and i had this, and now it has helped me alot alot.... definately recommend
