My Doctor prescribed me Ambien CR, how well it affect me and my sleeping habits?!

Question: I have tried 50 mg. Sominex and 50 mg. Unisom. They make my legs ache and it is hard to sleep. Why is that? I also get very horny when I take them. The drug in this over the counter drug is called (diphenhydramine hydrochloride.) I asked my doctor for a sleep aid and he prescribed me Flexeril (did not work), then he prescribed me 12.5 mg Ambien CR. How well they affect me? Another thing that shocked the hell outta me was the price. $127.56 for 30 tabs! WOW!!! He also told me that it is the name brand and their is no generic brands. I heard stories about people doing weird stuff while on this drug. I also looked into Lunesta, Rozerem, and the regular Ambien. Does anyone know anything? I have difficulty falling asleep. Anyone Please HELP ME!

I occasionally take Ambien CR, and it's helped me a lot.

I always recommend to people, though, that the first few times you take it NOT to be alone. Have someone home with you. It's true that people have been known to do some crazy things on Ambien. There is a virtual epidemic of people leaving the house and driving while on it. It's really difficult for the police, too, because the people drive exactly the way someone who is highly intoxicated will drive. (If they even make it out of the driveway.) I also heard about one woman who went on-line and ordered a car from some on-line auction (yes, a car) and then had no memory of it the next day. (She successfully entered all her information and everything. She found out about it the next day when she received an e-mail confirmation.) People have also been known to eat just about everything in their fridge and then not remember doing it. It *does* have some amnesiac effects, and the amnesia is worse for some people than for others.
I, personally, haven't done anything weird, and I haven't had a *problem* with the amnesia. (I'll usually remember things, but my memories will be sort of sketchy.) If I wait too long to go to bed after taking it, it makes me feel like I'm tipsy...like I've had too much to drink.
Anyway, for all those reasons I highly recommend you have someone with you until you know how it will affect you.

my dad was prescribed that.. it didn't really work for him and it gave him very odd nightmares..

are you on a regular exercise program? exercise produces serotonin which it related to sleep and mood regulation.. you may want to consider trying this..

warm milk also helps to produce serotonin.. so maybe drinking a glass before you go to sleep may help.. if warm milk kind of freaks you out like it does me, then make it into hot cocoa..

try to get at least an hour of sunlight each day.. this also helps to balance your brain chemistry and produces serotonin..

when you lie down to sleep, concentrate on your breathing.. just keep a steady inhale and exhale.. in through your nose and out through your mouth.. this will help to calm your heart rate and hopefully help you sleep..

eat a healthy diet.. and drink lots of water.. and try to stay away from caffeine.. especially after noon..

i don't know much about the medications as i'm not a fan of them.. but i hope this still helps somehow.. best of luck..
